*Have a rather annoyed!Venom. It's been a while since his wedding and he managed to survive the attack from his counterpart and the young Carl Clover. He hasn't left Ky's side during his recovery. That is, until now.*

Venom, may I have a word with you?

*Wow, that is pretty confusing...*

[Foiled. He had been foiled by that damned Gear not knowing when to mind her own business. This wasn't a matter involving her - this was a matter of the Guild and upholding its policies and she had nothing to do with that. He had been mere seconds away from completely his goal and she-- Nngh!

Needless to say, Venom was just as displeased as his doppelganger. If the sheer force of their combined annoyance could cause actual damage, they might have actually killed one another by now.

Not that that couldn't be arranged, still.]

What is it that you want?

*Once he had his other self's attention, Venom went silent. He had so many things to say and even more that he wanted to do. Oh, how he wanted to embrace the anger he felt boiling within him, but no, it wasn't the time for that now*

I'll start by saying that I'm unarmed. I want this to be a peaceful discussion, if at all possible.

...

[That was a dumb thing to say to an assassin. If you had a mark on your head and planned to keep living, the easiest thing would be to keep running, not the logical equivalent of inviting a cannibal into your company after rolling about in seasoning rub.

So it was begrudgingly that he put his own case down, if just for politeness sake (or Master Zato's. An angry assassin was an inefficient one. He needed to stay calm at all times). It was still in reach should it come in handy, however. He wasn't that gullible.]

I'll ask again: what is it you want.

Venom, do you know why I chose to turn my back on the Guild? Why I agreed to marry a member of the International Police? Why I risked coming out to speak with you unarmed, knowing that I'm now a target?

["Because you're a fool? You've lost your sense of direction and responsibility? You no longer care about Master Zato and all he had done for you? Or because this is simply a tactic to weaken the International Police by growing close to one of its most honored members and playing a double agent?"]

I'm not you. I couldn't say. [But he could feel the monologue coming a mile away. Did he always talk down to people like this?]

It's simple, really.

*Venom could feel the tension. It was so damn thick he could cut it with a knife. He moved closer, looking at his other self right in the eye. His wings were surprisingly still*

Because I love him. And I want you to understand that. I don't expect approval from you or Zato, just an understanding of what I feel.

[Just hearing that word in his own voice made something deep inside him curl up and cringe. Whether it was in disgust (Kiske. Really? He wasn't that desperate!) or shame (he never had the strength to say the same about that person. He could act on the feeling, but never say it. It was pathetic...), he didn't know. What was sure, however, was that behind the veil of hair between them he certainly wasn't meeting the gaze directed at him.]

I'm sure I've already come to understand your delusions. You enforcing them changes nothing.

*Venom nodded. His wings drooped slightly, saddened by what was coming next. He stood before the other, holding his arms out*

Perhaps I am delusional, or insane. But I know what I'm feeling.

*He kneels down before his counterpart*

I will take full responsibility for betraying my Guild. Your mission ends here. Kill me.

[...that was unexpected. It was true, he of all people would know better than to constantly run from the Guild, but it still came as a shock. There was no fight, no argument, not even a sense of understandable aggression directed at him. Just quiet acceptance.

For a moment, he didn't know what to do. He stood there, watching himself before his hands acted and grabbed onto the case's handle, fingers assembling the cue, while his mind attempted to catch up and push aside the sudden bout of hesitation. There wasn't another option to end this and they both knew that. His double may have had his loyalties, but Venom still had his own to uphold and protect. It was his responsibility. His duty.

He had to do this.]

I'm sorry.

[He closed his eyes as he struck the cue down forcefully at the other's skull. He couldn't watch.]

*Venom regretted nothing. He awaited the final blow while his mind flashed his final, happy moments. During their recovery, King Kiske offered to perform the ceremony again, allowing the pair to be truly married. With the image of their binding kiss fading, Venom fell to the ground.

His body lay before his other self, a pool blood forming on the ground. Wings fell to either side of his still form while a little something glinted on his left hand. It was his wedding ring.*

[His stomach started to knot again, this time with clear disgust at the blood pooling at his feet and he turned his back to the sight, intending to push any and all emotions away.]

...

[Master Zato's rules had been enforced. That was all that mattered. Without another word he calmly disassembled the cue, placed it back into the case, and walked away from the scene.

He would not kill the officer unless necessary. That was the only favor he would grant.]
