Like a lot of people, I associate some songs with my characters, and Fuuma here is no exception. So, without further ado~

Etiher Way- Guster

You were almost kind, you were almost true
Don't let me see that other side of you
You have learned in time that you must be cruel
I'll have to wait to get the best of you
Poison in everything you say
Don't you, don't you?

Wonder what difference does it make......Either way
You were almost kind, you were almost true
Why give away that other side of you
Happens every time, so it must be true

One of the many AU! Fuuma and Kamui songs in this list, this one covers how Fuuma felt after Kamui made his decision to become the Chi no Ryuu- he was furious that his best friend had decided to become the enemy of humanity, then realizes that it's partially because he always felt this way about everything.

My Plague- Slipknot

I’m in conniptions for the final act you came here for
The one derivative you manage is the one I abhor
I need a minute to elaborate for everyone the
Everyday bullshit things that you have done

Your impossible ego fuck is like a
Megalomaniacal tab on my tongue
You fuckin touch me I will rip you apart
Ill reach in and take a bite out of that
Shit you call a heart

Another reaction song to Kamui's decision, this is the more furious side of Fuuma that's seen almost immediately after the decision's made. He wanted to kill Kamui for what he had done, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. He would (and still will, for the most part) do whatever it takes to keep Kamui from accomplishing his goal as the Chi no Ryuu, even if it meant killing him.

Winners and Losers- Social Distortion

Are you happy now with all the choices you've made?
Are there times in life when you know you should've stayed?
Will you compromise and then realize the price is too much to pay?
Winners and losers, which one will you be today?

There's a light and a dark side
standing at the crossroads, there we'll meet
there's prophets and fools there
the lies and the truths, will be at our feet
I got a reason to turn my head and look the other way
it's heaven and hell here, which one will I live today?

This one especially fits Fuuma. Technically in the X universe, he's had no say over his destiny, he was supposed to become the opposite to Kamui no matter which side he took.

Passive- A Perfect Circle

Wake up and face me
Don't play dead 'cause maybe
Someday I will walk away and say
You disappoint me
Maybe you're better off this way

Leaning over you here
Cold and catatonic
I catch a brief reflection
Of what you could and might have been
It's your RIGHT and your ability
To become my perfect enemy

If you're noticing a pattern here, it's on purpose. Because of Fuuma's position as Kamui's Twin Star, there are a lot of songs here that reflect how he feels about the situation and what he wants to do about it.

The Red- Chevelle

This change, he won't contain
Slip away, to clear your mind.
When asked, who made it show
The truth, he gives in to most.

So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.

Finally, one that fits Fuuma and Fuuma alone. This one reflects not only his wish-making ability, but also the temper he has. The guy is not someone you want to piss off. EVER.

Map of the Problematique- Muse

Fear and panic in the air
I want to be free
From desolation and despair
And I feel like everything I saw
Is being swept away
When I refuse to let you go

I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you

Fuuma and Kamui's relationship in both the AU and their Original incarnations is one of complications and paradoxes, easily. Despite the fact that Fuuma's angry with Kamui for doing all that he's done, he still feels that he should care for him, if only for the fact that Kotori wouldn't have wanted him to stay angry about what happened.

Okay, I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't- Brand New

I am heaven sent
Don't you dare forget
I am all you've ever wanted
What all the other boys all promised
Sorry I told
I just needed you to know

The "heaven-sent" line kinda kills me, considering that under normal OU, this wouldn't even make any sense. This one is probably one of the few songs that actually exclusively fit the AU version.

Snuff- Slipknot

So save your breath I will not hear
I think I made it very clear
You couldn't hate enough to love
Is that supposed to be enough?
I only wish you weren't my friend
Then I could hurt you in the end
I never claimed to be a Saint
My own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go

So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself
And I won’t listen to your shame
You ran away you're all the same
Angels lie to keep control
My love was punished long ago
If you still care, don't ever let me know

One of my favorite Slipknot songs of all time, this one covers how Fuuma's trying to let Kamui go, remembering everything that his friend had done to him and that he's now the enemy.

Higher Than Hope- Nightwish

Passiontide
An angel by my side
But no Christ to end this war
To deliver my soul from the sword
Hope has shown me a scenery
Paradise poetry
With first snow I'll be gone

The hopes were high
The choirs were vast
Now my dreams are left to live through you

Red Sun rising
Drown without inhaling
Within, the dark holds hard
Red Sun rising
Curtain falling
Higher than hope my cure lies

Fuuma knows that his wish-making ability is dangerous, and he might die as a result of it. However, he still has his own hopes and dreams that he wants realized. This is more of him realizing that if anything happens, he will put his faith in the other Ten no Ryuu to protect the Earth as much as they can.

Light My Way- Audioslave

The bullet is a man
from time to time he strays
I compare my life to this
to this I remain
and I'm willing to listen to your answers
and I'm not afraid to tell you I need you today

Won't you light my way

This quote kinda sums it up (taken shamelessly from the AU!fic EPIC): "I'll be whatever the world needs me to be."

The Pledge- Dir en grey

Even if tomorrow forces me to live
My days will not change
I can't say it anymore

If you are going to rip up
The voice and the dreams that I build up, then answer me
No one will be forgiven
But it can't be said. It can't be said. It can't be said.

Dir en grey's always been one of my favorite J-rock bands, but their songs usually don't end up fitting many of my characters besides the usual asskickers (see: Marmalade Chainsaw and Merciless Cult for Dante), although there are the exceptions (See: Sajou no Uta for Sorata) to the rule, this being one of them.

Angeldust- D'espairsRay

The wind whispered; my voice, take part in life's meaning
The stars dance; my dream is going to birth a new life
I hand down this wish, I entrust it to you

Brand New Days... Brand New World... Brand New Sunrise...
"Hello" I'm just feeling to the last scene...
"Hello" I'm just falling with you...
"Hello" I want to love this world...

With Fuuma's wish-granting ability, it's hard for him to actually vocalize his own true wish. This song is probably what could be what he wants to happen to the world: for humanity to be safe, as well as being able to live to see a new day.

Here We Are- Breaking Benjamin

So here we are, fighting and trying to hide the scars
I'll be home tonight, take a breath and softly say goodbye
The lonely road, the one that I should try to walk alone
I'll be home tonight, take a breath and softly say goodbye

Despite the fact that he knows he's not alone in this fight, Fuuma still has his moments when he thinks he is. It also doesn't help the fact that he knows he has to be the one to finish it off once and for all.

I Hate Everything About You- Three Days Grace

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you

Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven't missed you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

...need I say more?

The Arms of Sorrow- Killswitch Engage

The demons of my own design
This horror must not remain

Deeper I'm falling
Into the arms of sorrow
Blindly descending
Into the arms of sorrow

There must be serenity

There must be deliverance

Fuuma's not only plagued by the fact that he wants to stop someone he cares deeply about, but also the fact of coming to terms with his own destiny; he was born only to become the opposing force to Kamui. He hates this fact.

I can't take credit for finding most of these, so: thank you to Lins (recording) for finding most of these for me, and Mith (mithrigil) for the awesome AU fic EPIC for inspiring me to keep going and work with this AU and for the Audioslave lyrics (which she has listed as Fuuma's theme in the AST).
