'Darkness of heart'? Sounds scary. And sort of lonely. It makes me think of all the doubts and fears a person can hide inside themselves. But I suppose everyone has feelings they don't want to share.

I'm not sure I understand. I don't know how darkness can be something physical, let alone a person.
