Life Stories

He bolted up from the couch from sleep, hair flying in every direction that added to the off kilter gleam in his eyes, chest stuck out, a deep breath nostrils flaring. “I have ENERGY! I must go recklessly jump off something incredibly high off the ground RIGHT NOW!”

Grumbling, Alyssa rolled over into the blanket in her chair. “No, you just have ADD.”

“Oh.”

Sitting at the desk, Alyssa typed contently while he paced. He always got antsy on a Tuesday. At least by the end of it she had to laugh at his expression. Who knew that cats were attracted to Axe?

His name was Will. He liked her, always typing. He brought her a flower once, a lily, and watched her smile. He liked Alyssa.

They were married on a summer day in July. Alyssa passed away that winter. Will was alone.

Sitting at the desk, he typed, hair wild, wild gleam in his eyes, fingers tapping harshly on the keyboard. This would be her story.

They found him two days later at the desk.

Dead.

No more energy.
