when I created this journal, i had no intention of updating it. i just expected to look through everyone else's entries and enjoy reading about other people's problems.  i was wrong, lately i've just felt inspired.  i guess it's because i'm not taking any english classes this semester, so i don't really have an outlet for my writing, until livejournal came along. i've never really been a big fan of journals, i hate updating entries about my life.  but lately i've felt like writing. just writing about whatever comes to mind.  the perks of high school, my shoe fetish, cliques, or colleges. whatever.

today my inspiration is my shoe fetish.  i think i started being obsessed with buying shoes probably my sophomore year.  i just fell in love with shoes for no particular reason, and had to buy a lot of them.  i honestly do not know how much money i've spent on my shoes for these past few years, and i don't really think i want to know.  but i think my shoe fetish is different than most women's -- my shoe collection consists mostly of sneakers.

i have a lot of vans shoes, five pairs actually.  three pairs of slip-ons, a filthy pair that i never got around to throwing away, another worn-out pair that i still wear, and one relatively new pair that i rarely wear, even though they are one year old.  I recently acquired two new pairs -- the hi-top and the era 59.  my vans range has expanded, i don't only own slip ons anymore!  i'm pretty much obsessed with vans-- they're so simple yet they pull off this look for me that no other shoe can.  i guess they're the only shoes that can match my red jeans.  speaking of my red jeans, i've been trying to expand my collection of colored jeans... not much luck lately, isn't money a bitch?  anyway, my vans always have been trusty companions.  nearly two years ago I went to italy, and in Venice i got terribly ill.  i had to vomit, but there were no bathrooms around so i ran into an alley and vomited my brains out.  unfortunately, my shoes (vans) were in the way and vomit got all over them. pretty disgusting.  but that's not the only part, it was only the second day of my trip and i had like 10 hours before we could return to our hotel.  i e-mailed my mom, and she said i could throw them away, but i couldn't bring myself to. they were my first pair of vans slip ons and they were awesome.  so i decided to put the shoes in a plastic bag and put it in my suitcase.  the vomit didn't get on my clothes, thankfully. my second pair i've had for as long as i remember... my third pair i bought in California, during the summer of '06.  then i recently shelled out 100 bucks on two pairs of vans, and i couldn't be happier with my purchase.

on to the pumas... i own three pairs of pumas, even though i wear only two of them.  i never throw away old shoes, that's a bad habit of mine.  Actually... i own four! haha oh my god i forgot about the one from freshman year.  My pumas have quite interesting stories behind them, actually.  my second-oldest pair i bought in California.. what's up with the California theme going here? anyway, when i was a freshman my family went on a trip to california, and i was so excited because i saw my first-ever puma store in san francisco.  and then there was a pair of shoes that i fell in love with. i just had to have them. it had the perfect shade of purple, the purple i'd been looking for since like forever.  so i just had to have them, and i had them! oldest pair... i don't remember how i got them... i just know i bought them before the summer of my freshman year... hmm... I wore them at camp and sprained my ankle in them and could barely fit in them.  my third pair was a custom-made pair from Georgetown... I bought them sophomore year.  i read on the internet that the puma mongolian grill would be coming to Georgetown and of course i just had to have one pair.  i remember going with Michelle, Sabrina, and Petra.. they helped me buy that pair of shoes... believe it or not, i brought all three pairs of pumas with me to YLC and they survived haha.  the fourth pair is the most exotic one, purchased in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, one of the smallest countries in the world.

i have quite an obsession with boat shoes... i own two pairs and they were both bought at the nearby nordstrom, nothing too special with them. can't wait until it's summer so i can wear them with bermudas again.  i have one pair of "wigga" nike shoes.  i was one of the first white kids at my school to own wigga shoes so i take pride in that... c'mon all you wannabe fools, just admit it, you copied the idea from me, right? ;)  of course there are the prerequsite converse -- special edition suede ones! i actually just realized that i have a sixth pair of vans shoes, prison issues! blue madras ones haha. so that's fourteen pairs so far... oh there are these shoes from Europe, London actually... I bought them in like the seventh grade and they still fit me! that shows how long i haven't grown for.. puberty sucks, :P.  i own some ugly shoes like hiking shoes, etc, i won't really count them.

on to summer shoes... i'm the proud owner of a pair of sea foam crocs! they are uglyass shit but they are comfortable as hell.  i also have umm clogs from american eagle, i think i will buy more from birkenstock sometime soon.  and let's not get to flipflops... i have way too many pairs but that reminds me i need more reefs with can openers on the soles.

maybe i was talking in another language the whole time, but the whole point is that every pair of shoe has a story behind them.  so that's why i make sure to cherish my shoes, and i guess that's why i love shoes.  people walk so many miles everyday in them, and they just take them for granted.  i mean, god knows how many steps you've walked in your favorite pair of shoes. so appreciate!
