(no subject)
Shit, no joke, this is the place I think. Its unbelievable, I mean…my room, is swank…this is a bed and breakfast inn, and we each have our own rooms, done up in English fashion (but with tv and wireless). Floor to ceiling windows…in the summer time I bet this room rocks (I have windows on two sides. The bed…the bed is one of those that is perfectly soft and firm that it begs to have love made on it. That’s the other thing…its $140 a night. I mean, god, this just shows a completely different level of interest than iowa….where they doubled us up in $80 a night rooms. Also free/fresh/hot tea in the lobby and the school even spelled my name tag right…which Iowa did not.
Oh, the profs are also great…three of them came up to me yesterday (before we’d even met) and said ‘are you Drew Buschhorn?’ (I had a name tag) ‘Yup.’ ‘Did you work for Daryle Busch?’ ‘Well, in his group.’ ‘Yeah, he had some really glowing things to say about you.’ I also got stopped by a 3rd year grad student who goes ‘oh, Drew, right? Prof. Baik said to be sure and grab you and show you this project if I saw you.’ Damn! Hot damn! I then proceeded to listen to her speel (actually learned a little bit too, she handles the biology side of some of the enzyme industial catalysts, as in the care and feeding of the bugs that make the enzymes) and then sat and bitched with her and another grad student (male :-p) about how annoying pre-med majors are for wanting As but being too incompetent to get them. She also said that when shes put her foot down on such a one and they’ve gone running to the dept head/head of university, the dept has always backed her up and treated her as a real member of the faculty (which we are technically). I think this is it love…well, 8:30 wake up call, (better than iowa’s 7:30). The only bad thing about this is that Indianapolis is the nearest airport, and it’s more than an hour away. Still, it’s the kind of drive I actually enjoy making…just straight country road at 65 an hour.
