It's essential, people. I'm not kidding. Keeping myself busy and active is of utmost importance for both my mental and physical wellbeing. If it weren't for my workouts, I would do nothing but lay on the couch all day long, sleeping, reading, watching films, and probably stuffing my face with all the foods and chocolates in the world.
My dark place is lightening up. There are rays of sun streaming cautiously through the heavy, gray clouds. I went to a dance class on Monday; three hours of ballroom dance practice. I've just come home from a strength class at my gym. I'm going swimming tomorrow, or yoga, or maybe even both. Saturday I'll go spinning, or do a strength class again, before spending the evening at the yearly Opera Ball, ballroom dancing the night away, and even socializing with other people as I do so. Incredible. The most incredible part: I'm actually looking forward to it. Even the socializing. I'm stunned. Stunned, I say.
As if that wasn't enough, I'll also be socializing on both Friday and Sunday, though in less active environments. Activity is important, but so are rest days, so I try to make it a good balance. I'm looking forward to those days as well.
These are all very good signs. Though not trusting anyone any time soon, I'm beginning to have hopes that maybe some time, in a distant future, I can.
