AN: Just a little something, I'm trying to rid the writers' block.

Veronica has kissed all of them, and they have all kissed her - because it’s happened more than once. She’s still a little unsure of it all, but none of them really act any differently, in fact on occasion she wonders if it’s happened at all. Everything is still so normal. Duncan is still possessive, Logan doesn’t really touch her otherwise and Lilly still smiles at her and turns her back when she’s changing shirts in the same room. So maybe she imagined the times when there were too many hands on her for common decency, one set for each bottle of empty liquor that she knows she shouldn’t be drinking anyway.

It’s not the kind of thing that she does. Veronica is still shy around Duncan and the fuzzy memories of two more sets of familiar eyes and her naked body makes her bite a bottom lip and squirm. She thinks it started as truth or dare, that would make the most sense, but after the first time - if she’s remembering properly - she was a little scared to bring the subject up. So it kept happening. And they kept not talking about it.

Lilly was a little older than Veronica, a little more grown up and so she knew more about sophisticated things like sex. And Duncan loved her so he would never do anything to hurt her. And Logan, well he mostly looked out for her and if he hurt her then Lilly would kick his ass. So it all confuses Veronica a little more than it should. Because it’s wrong, she knows that it is not something normal that normal friends do together - but everything else is staying the same and she can’t imagine any of the three of them causing her harm. So maybe it’s not quite as wrong as it sounds out loud. Not that she would ever speak about it out loud.

It is only when she watches Duncan kissing Lilly that Veronica realises she doesn’t want to do this anymore. Logan’s hand is warm on her thigh and her hair is dripping round her shoulders and Lilly’s lipstick is smeared all along her jaw - and Veronica wants to go home. She wants to curl up under her covers with her knees tight against her chest and never let anybody touch her again, because this is wrong. And she feels wrong. And the surface isn’t changing but everything else is. And suddenly there doesn’t seem to be enough empty liquor bottles in the world to make this alright, she is sure - and Veronica thinks that must make this important because she is indecisive about everything else.

But she’s still a little scared. And there are three sets of eyes on her. And they have all kissed her before. Her bowed head and doubtful eyes give her away though and lead to swift re-dressing - it doesn’t happen again after that.

She notices that Duncan and Logan touch more than other boys and that Lilly is very affectionate towards her brother. Veronica wonders if it still happens without her. Then Lilly dies and Logan grips to Duncan in the corridor, staking a claim with bruising resolve and desperation.

Veronica thinks that it’s because Duncan stayed and she did not, so now she doesn’t get to mourn with them - because she handed them some truth with a doubtful gaze. But now, with Lilly gone, it would not be as irredeemably wrong as it was and occasionally Veronica entertains how easy it would be to slip between them and let herself be loved again, in any way. It didn’t really matter how anymore; they would all die one day.

But she chose truth - and she keeps choosing truth. Because lies were nice but they don’t make things better.
