Spoilers: None, though familiarity with both shows is good. However, if you've never seen Alias, the fic will still make a lot of sense.

Notes: I originally wrote this as a Jack Bristow-centric fic for the Alias fan fiction world, however, upon re-reading it I realized that it really fit Keith too, so I changed a couple of things and here you go. Please tell me what you think.

They thought he was stupid. Or slow, maybe. Defiantly blinded by love.
I mean, he had to know that she didn’t love him. How could they have gotten married?
He was supposed to be so clever, solving crimes no one else could solve, taking on the bad guys everyone else was afraid to face.
How could he have not figured it out?
And then she came along, a daughter. The most beautiful little girl in the world.
He wanted to protect her from the world, protect her from everything. Protect her from friends that turned on her and boys that broke her heart. Protect her from the disappointment of a mother that never seemed to care.
And despite everything the woman did to him, breaking his heart, leaving, he had to love her. Because she was the mother of his little girl, his baby.
Even when the woman failed to live up to expectations, the daughter was always there. She was smart and resourceful and, although he would have preferred for her to have chosen a different profession, she was very good at what she did.
And despite her mother, he loved her. And despite the rumors, he loved her. She was his daughter and he was her father. It was enough.
