The fierce injustice of it all, of the brutal loss and the pain that hadn't gotten all that much more dull in the last year, it all fills you with a sickly fury when you think about it. You think you could have learned to wrangle with that, but not with the way that everyone expects you to play along like nothing's happened. Not ever.
