So I've mentioned my struggles with my job ad nauseum, but I do recognize that with those struggles comes not only a paycheck, but intangible things that make tough days a little easier to bear. With that in mind, here is a pic taken outside my office window a few weeks back:
Right at the edge of that first line of boats is where we saw a whale this spring, a juvenile gray that was hanging around for a few days. On the right side of the pic, out of sight, is the port where every year a pair of peregrine falcons nest. They usually hatch two to three babies (three, this year) and it's pretty amazing, watching them teach the kids how to hunt. Amazing, but sometimes a little on the graphic side. And while working near the water is great, sometimes it's like walking through the aftermath of a seafood buffet when I'm going out to my car - lots of shells from the seagulls, who leave messes of other kinds, too ;). We keep the local car washes in business, I swear.
