Today's discussion topic was - how to tell it's a fic written by so-and-so.
Here are my quickly dashed off answers:
How to tell you're reading a fic by veronicaluv:
1. Snark. Regardless of fandom, there will be snarkage.
2. Someone will get hurt. Someone will offer comfort. Multiple times in multiple combinations.
3. There will be long passages of internal angst and deep feelings of inadequacy expressed by my protagonist, usually resolved by soulful discussions with the love interest and/or sex with the love interest. Just like real life.
4. At some point, I will have had a public LJ diva breakdown that will include cries of "it was only going to be X long and now it's Y long and I'll never finish it and no one will read it and what the hell was I thinking" - whereupon my editor will smack me and I'll finish the story. It's tradition.
5. Romance, schmoop, happy ending. I am nothing if not predictable.
