My Will ...Is about six feet tall, give or take an inch. But not the tallest man he knows - there's more than one reason he looks up to Norrington ( Read more... )

No wonder Will has to get his own ship in AWE - no other captain will take him on (and rightfully so)!

I love "your" Will! Very similar to how I see the character, but I haven't thought in so much detail...

I probably sit and think in too MUCH detail ...

Not too much. I don't think in enough, so we level one another out.

Secretly craves glory and accolades just as much as Jack or Elizabeth

Would never admit that he really does enjoy taking charge and giving orders - and having them obeyed

Yes, and yes. I agree wholeheartedly, particularly as he merits glory and accolades more than the other two do. I get the impression that he's been very lonely for much of his life, and I think he has done a lot of the things he has done not only because he thinks they are right, but because he wants to be noticed. I think he's trying to get positive attention from his actions, and to form some kind of connection with the people around him based on his capabilities, rather than on his social status. Not because he is egotistical (as if) but he is proud (in the good sense) and would like some sort of acknowledgement.
I love the idea that he met Jack when he was little, back when Jack wasn't called Jack, and looked quite different to how he does now. I'd love to see a dawning realisation of this childhood memory in the films, because it seems so plausible.

I like the idea that Will is human and craves attention and approval, but does so secretly - at least compared to Jack and Elizabeth. It takes a special person to realize he needs that attention; I think Jack would realize it. I wonder if Elizabeth does?

Remembers spending an afternoon with Jack when he was about five years old, while his parents "visited" back home.

This idea has always interested me, and it also features in my own mental backstory for Will. Now if only someone more talented than me would write it...*nudge* *g*

Isn't sure who he's more jealous of or angry with when he sees the two of them kissing on the Pearl.

Good call. He expected a lot more decency from both of them.

Is apparently immune to drowning.

Hee! No kidding, huh? The sea just keeps on spitting him back out! If anything, you'd think Jack would want to have him around as good luck charm...

Actually, I have started one. I just need a good incident or two to write around so I can finish it.

Well, I'd think Jack would want him around for more than that, personally. ;-) But I'm not sure he expected from Jack the same behavior he expected of Elizabeth. He knew without doubt that Jack is a filthy pirate.

Of course, I meant "good luck charm" in the hottest, slashiest, most wicked sense! *grin*

Actually, I have started one.

Hurray! I'll be looking forward to reading it! :D
