Kristen Bell Heads to CW's 'Gossip Girl'
The ''Veronica Mars'' star will narrate The CW's new drama based on the best-selling teen book series

With reports of The CW canceling Veronica Mars, fans of the girl detective can take heart in this piece of exclusive news: CW's buzzed-about new drama Gossip Girl, based on the best-selling teen book series, will feature voiceover narration by none other than... Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl herself. Gossip Girl will reportedly air this fall on The CW on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., after Top Model.

Veronica Mars is still clinging to life.

Despite reports this morning that the show has been canceled, Rob Thomas just assured me via e-mail that there's "nothing definitive." That jives with what I told you in Ask Ausiello: It's possible CW head Dawn Ostroff is delaying a final verdict on VM until after Thursday's upfront.

One encouraging sign: Sources say Rob has passed on CBS' offer to come aboard its new musical mystery drama Viva Laughlin! as an executive producer. (Rob declined to comment on anything Viva-related.)

Anyone wanna guess what the first question out of my mouth will be at tomorrow's CW press conference? C'mon, give it a shot.
