Pilot Question

So I'm rewatching the Pilot episode, and I noticed something. How come in this episode, Veronica asks Keith to look up the license plate number for her, while in every other episode of both seasons, if she has a license plate number, she has the program and runs them on her own?

Inconsistency really bothers me, so it just kinda jumped out at me. Any ideas?
