I suppose I should update about the contest week...
In short, it was a blast! Performing on the International Stage is awesome! What a rush!
Cap City placed 25th in the chorus contest, and Motivation placed 21st in the collegiate contest. It's about what we were expecting- we were there for the thrill of it, more than anything else. I'm now determined to get a college quartet up to a level that can medal. Those are sexy hardware (rectangular medals rather than circular), and I've only got 4 years left to try and get one...
Lots of the contest was awesome. Hot Air Buffoons, with their literal interpretation in the intro of "From the First Hello to the Last Goodbye" ("Songs are forgotten........... songs are forgotten.... I JUST DON'T KNOW!")
There was the quartet with the bubble wrap suits. Fantastic.
Crossroads was fantastic, and came so close to getting the gold. OC Times just happened to be better.
Old School's mockery of OC Times' take on expanding the barbershop style. "Ah, the barbershop 7th chord... former hallmark of the barbershop style!"
Storm Front's 17-minute package. Just awesome!
Very, very, very awesome week all around. A little ticked off at the American patriotism on the AIC show. (The Association of International Champions). There were Canadians up there, too. Least they could have done is something about Canada as well. Or North America. But nope, American wankery at its best.
The BHS Headquarters have the most awesome entryway ever. The ceiling has a dome-shaped curvature to it, so that when you sing/speak, it sounds like you have a mic and monitors. Multiply that by four, and you've got a great spot for tag singing!
I can't wait for International next year. I hope I'm lucky enough to be a competitor again!
Harmony U in 2 weeks... =D
