As far as I can tell, I haven't done this the past couple of years...but I want to renew the tradition.



1. What did you do in 2009 that you had never done before?
Went swimming in a freakishly fast river, went skiing and sledding in the Alps, surfed couches, let others surf my couch, pub crawled, moved internationally alllll by myself. Probably other stuff...

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't know what my resolution was...for this year, I resolve to make better use of my free time. And to take my academics more seriously.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
no

4. Did anyone close to you die?
no

5. What countries did you visit?
Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Canada...Germany. But if I'm listing Germany I guess I should list the US too.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A normal person sleep schedule.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The inauguration, my moving day.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
doing well in the german uni classes

9. What was your biggest failure?
having next to no "personal life"

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
nope

11. What was the best thing you bought?
my MacBook and a new leather jacket.

12. Where did most of your money go?
Travel...and food and drink. Maybe not in that order :P

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Trains! Hostels! To explore strange new cities, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where I had not gone before.

14. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder: Sadder.
b) thinner or fatter: Fatter. Last year I was walking waaaay more on a daily basis.
c) richer or poorer: Poorer, but with less to spend money on so it's not so bad.

15. What do you wish you'd done more of?
READING.

16. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Watching tv online.

17. How did you spend Christmas?
At home and at the Bude household. It was quite a good one, really!

18. Did you fall in love in 2009?
No...hooray.

19. How many one-night stands?
....guess.

20. What was your favorite TV program?
Dexter and 30 Rock!

21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Georgians...no wait, I hated them last fall too. I'll go with my now ex-roommate.

22. What was the best book you read?
Der Vorleser by Bernhard Schlink or Provenance by Laney Salisbury and Aly Sujo. Heh, a German book and and Art History book!

23. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Elisabeth musical? haha, or um...Vitamin String Quartet. And a lot of stuff that Pandora popped up. Like Radical Face. OH! GARFUNKEL AND OATES.

24. What did you want and get?
A great couple of semesters and a lot of fun vacations.

25. What did you want and not get?
To spend August in Europe.

26. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Princess and the Frog? I think I saw a total of lie 5 movies...Inglourious Basterds also rocked.

27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had Mexican food with Renee :) And I'm 22, yikes.

28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
regular physical affection. there, I said it :P

29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Trying to dress like a Münchner.

30. What kept you sane?
Augustiner, the Alps, the Englischer Garten...and in the fall, the internet.

31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
um....Michael C. Hall?

32. What political issue stirred you the most?
Minaretverbot. Um. Health care perhaps.

33. Who did you miss?
EVERYONE.

34. Who was the best new person you met?
Chris Grimm, James Gyenes, Gabor Hannak, Marissa Ballard.

All good things must come to an end.
