Tonight we get a sneak preview of my absolute least favorite holiday of the year, Fourth of July.
Our neighbors behind us are having a party in their backyard that has been going all day. They now have a bonfire. Lots of people are outside talking very loudly, playing music, etc.
Normally I wouldn't begrudge someone a nice party, except (1) I can't stand these neighbors, (2) the guy who lives there is a cop, (3) they (or their unruly kids) are always throwing shit in our yard, (4) they're ALWAYS noisy, (5) they shot BOTTLE ROCKETS into our yard during the day when we were outside with G when she was just a baby, etc. etc. Earlier tonight when I went out to water the garden the butts up against the fence between us I found a cigarette butt, which could only have come from their yard. Did I mention I can't stand these neighbors? *sigh*
Anyway, G's bedroom window faces directly toward their backyard so she can't sleep tonight. She came downstairs an hour ago saying very calmly that people were outside making noises and every time she heard them "they made me nervous" and she couldn't sleep. At least there's no crying in addition to the lack of sleep, which there probably will be when the miniature bombs are going off later this week.
G said she wasn't tired so she's now laying in our bed watching Lady and the Tramp. We've been checking in on her periodically, but she hasn't nodded off yet, so maybe she really wasn't that tired. She did take a very late and very long nap today, from 3-5PM. Hopefully she goes to sleep soon or the party calms down, not that it's crazy or anything, just louder than I'd like.
