I haven't done an exercise update in a week! Rest assured, I have been working out:
Thursday was upper body blitz day, which I blogged already
Friday was cardio day, with a 30+ minute workout on the treadmill doing intervals
Saturday was another cardio day, first thing in the morning, this time on the elliptical and I *finally* figured the stupid thing out. The key is weight transfer to establish a good rhythm.
Sunday we went to the zoo and walked all day. I mean all day: 10 AM to 5 PM, with about 30 minutes sitting for lunch. Around 4 I simply had to sit a bit because my feet were really starting to bother me.
Monday was another upper body blitz day, took the flys up to 25 and finally maxed out, but that might've been because I did the exercises in a different order and my muscles were already a little fatigued when I did these sets (I usually do them first).
Tuesday I did 30+ minutes of cardio on the elliptical again.
Wednesday I decided to pick it up (due to my wife's encouragement) and did upper body blitz again, with only one day off instead of two. This time I did the flys first and the 25's didn't max me out. I also had to hurry for a morning meeting so I rushed my sets and didn't push quite as much as usual.
Today I did 40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. I was actually able to get up to 250 strides/min, a la
fudjo, for 30-60 seconds -- it was insane. Mostly I was in the 140-200 strides/min range, depending on the song. I vary my pace based on the song to get an interval kind of training and because it feels natural to match the beat, and it's very easy to do on the elliptical unlike on the treadmill where the pace is set by the machine.
Tomorrow will be another upper body blitz, hopefully at a decent pace and really pushing the reps.
