Dinner With the Fam

Feb 08, 2006 21:50

Family is wondeful. Grandparents especially. I went with my whole fam to The Old Spaghetti Factory for my grandmother's birthday and they split us up into 3 tables. So I sat with my grandmother and my great-grandparents, my grandmothers parents. So anyways, as I was sitting there jabbering like my normal self, I noticed that, even though my great-grandparents did not join in the discussion very often, they were content to simply sit and enjoy the company. It was humbling to a certain extent, to know and think about all the things that they've been through together. They have 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Wow. Now that's humbling. Since today was "When You Grow Up" day as a part of Covenant's Spirit Week, it got me thinking about what I really do want to be when I "Grow Up". I think I've come to the conclusion, that as much as I have always said I want to be a career woman till the death, that nothing could be more rewarding or fulfilling than being a faithful and loving wife and a loving and nurturing mother. The role of a mother never ceases to amaze me, and probably never will, even after, Lord willing, I become one.

Just what's been on my mind.
