"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."
This verse has been in my head for days, on account of something that transpired last Saturday.
Aaron finally relented to take me on the Trailblazer at HersheyPark, one of the two rides we rode the whole day. As we adjusted our lap belts, a blind young man of ethnic race, either Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. He blindly thunked into the seat in front of us, with a sweet smile on his face. He collapsed his walking stick/cane and seated himself, and almost immediately turned around and asked us to introduce ourselves, and he says "hello Letta and Aaron!" He asked us to describe the ride the whole time and I could not keep my eyes off of him. As we rounded the sharp corners of the ride, his head would hang limply to the side, into the turns and twists of the ride, and he made no shouts of glee like we did. After the short ride, he asked us to describe the car in front, whether they were "loading or unloading, when were we unloading?" and, "who is next to ride?" We exited the car, and I find myself getting teary eyed and frequently glancing behind me to see him. He opened his cane, shakily, and felt his way through the crowd, with the sweet smile, making his way slowly down the steps. I just felt this pull in my heart I have not felt before. And thinking on that feeling, brings me to tears. Was he an angel? I think he was, but you never can tell. It was profound, it moved me, and I will not forget it. These ethereal experiences help one to feel love and caring, and can not the hardest soul experience soul lurching and searching from within....
