Has anyone else seen those commercials on TV by the American Corn Growers Association that are trying to dispel the evils of high-fructose corn syrup? The setup is always the same: one person warms the other about the evils of high-fructose corn syrup, and the other person calls their bluff. The health concious person looks like a complete douchenozzle while the syrup-gobbling person looks sane and rational. Want to know why I don't like HFCS? Look at the correlation between its inclusion in food products and the rise in obesity rates. What else do you need? Cancerous rats?
It's so bizarre - I never realized that the corn growers actually gave a damn. Though it does bother me that they keep insisting HFCS is "all natural," because that seems like kind of a misnomer considering how much corn has to be refined before the syrup is made. But hey, whatever. Whatever gets the stuff sold...
I downloaded Google's new Chrome browser and so far I'm in love. It's so much faster than Firefox and doesn't lock up nearly as much. It's like everything that Google touches turns to gold. Makes me anxious to see what Android, their new phone OS, is going to be like.
Oh and speaking of Google, there's a street view of my house on GoogleMaps now where you can see my car in my driveway. It's unnerving. The internet is making the world smaller and less personal.
