Getting good at it.

Bright and early I made a list, preparing for WoF day I hoped, stuck to it mostly with occasional lapses into distraction and low-priority tidy-ups. There was the final burst underneath, last minute paint touch up, spraying fish oil into the body panels and framing, inserting the hole plugs. Attaching the shielding underneath turned into a hunt for bolts, these were almost the first things removed from the van sometime back in June.

Everything took longer than it should have, but I will not be happy with too much half-done cover-ups, he said after using electrical tape to hide a small crack in the door by pretending it's there to hold the door card in place.

While fitting the shielding I noted the bumper is not fully attached due to a snapped bolt. Drilled it out, retapped it, I'm getting good at that. Painted around it, painted other things, so much was missed.

Emptied it out, check all the oils. Took it for a few drives, found a leak in the brake line, fixed it.

Made it to the tyre place by 4 to ask about getting a low profile 15 to preserve the "correct" diameter, and was told it can't be done as this van is rated light commercial and needs the 6 ply truck tyres which don't come low profile as it affects the load rating.

Realised later that the speedo is now actually tuned for 15 inch rims, as the gearbox came from the Starwagon which has the different speedo cable drive gear. So maybe I won't have to source 14 inch Mitsubishi 6 bolt rims which second hand are as rare as hairs on my head, or are $350 each new from Japan. As long as the extra inch diameter doesn't down-rate the braking.

It almost doesn't matter if I do get the WoF tomorrow, driving around this evening the van fills up with the stink of fish oil burning my nose. Can't imagine sleeping in it just yet.

Fixing the bumper. Painted that bit too.
