I'm worried...

It's been a while and I really should have updated sooner, but I have to leave you with something rather recent.

Earlier today I called a friend of my mother's who specializes in computer maintenance; my laptop (which is about five years old by now) had crashed - both literally and figuratively - at about 6 AM on May 29th, and I haven't been able to have it fixed since, the stores I'd gone to charged insane prices and they also cannot guarantee that they can recover the data on the non-C Discs (a fact which in and of itself I do understand). I hope I'll have more luck at this friend's office, he's a very busy man who works erratic hours and was graceful enough to make out an hour or two for me tomorrow.

So here's to hoping for the best, then.

ETA

(Could've done this earlier, though...)
It's no use, nothing was salvagable after all. :'( I bought another 288GB harddrive and they halped me do the basic installments.

Moral of the tale: Never, ever physically bump your laptop while it's still running (I've bumped it several times before when it was shut down, and no harm came about it), and do not consider Mobile HDDs an unnecessary investment. You'll never know when the stuff you'd backed up can be rendered all that you have left.

personal issues, moment of truth, laptop
