Saw my film professor in line on the way to the back of the line, well, really, he saw me, called my name, which was flattering as I don't know him THAT well, smiled and told me I had good taste in music, he is a quiet man, it was an unbelievably pleasant encounter.
At last nights show, there was an older woman walking up and down the line selling this book she wrote about Bob Dylan. She stopped and talked to me and I found out that she had written the book as her dissertation, quite impressive. She also said that she has wanted to follow Dylan around since the 60s but never got to...now two of her kids are married and the other two went to college, so she decided that it was time to start following Dylan. Kick ass.
I saw her again tonight, and she remembered me, said hello. she walked by a couple times, holding up her book, and she stopped so I could look at it...she said it was $10...not bad, so I told her that I didn't have any cash but I would see her tomorrow night and buy one. She said that she'd just give it to me if I promised to send her the money, I said, no no, I'll see you tomorrow.
the crowds at Bob Dylan shows are the best crowds I have ever experienced.
ok music.
there was a lot more jazz feel goin on. a lot more stand up bass (they only used it once or twice last night, probably four or five times tonight) and jazz guitar (they didn't even use the jazz guitar last night).
highlights = Highway 61 - probably about the same as last night, which is fuking incredible...Summer Days - better than last night...Ballad of A Thin Man, yep. GIRL FROM NORTH COUNTRY. thank you.
Cat's in the Well was not as good as last night, but Rolling Stone was better.
after show, I get cash from ATM and see the book lady outside. I buy a book with some scratches on the cover for $7. I hold up her book to people walking by as she looks in her bag for the book.
that's about it.
I feel sad that tomorrow night will be the last night.
but I can't wait.
sleepy.
