Eric Holland is the bestest audio professor EVER.

Firstly, all we ever do is laugh in that class. I think it is just because us audio folk rock. ha. But, Eric is hilarious shit. He's an adjunct professor and those are always hit or miss but, he is awesome.

I get to class today and there is just Scott and Jon are there. So we start talking about this paper that is due next week. We start making jokes about it, etc. and then Missy comes in and we come up with this idea that we should ask for the paper to be due NEXT next week instead of next week. We start thinking of all these excuses that we can use for why he should push it back. Hey, it's worth a try. Back to that later.

So this random guy walks in and he's like, "is this..." and we say "radio programming?" he says "with..." "Eric Holland?" He says he's in the right room and comes in, another girl from my class comes in behind him and looks at him funny and he's like "who are you?" jokingly of course...and she's like "who are YOU?!" ha. it was hilarious and everyone had a good laugh. har.

He tells us he's this guest speaker who Eric apparently failed to tell us about. haha. He is a radio journalist (doesn't work in radio, just writes about it) for the Boston Herald..the only paper ever to have a weekly radio column. yar. Eric shows up and says, "I have good news and good news, first, we have a guest speaker" we all laugh, "and I have some commitments so we'll get out a little bit early tonight. sweet. the guy talks. he's real cool, the guy leaves.

Eric has these videos of television advertisements for radio stations and he's like, "hey, is there a room up here that has a tv we could use?" "there should be a tv in the lab down the hall" so Eric and this other student go down the hall to the room to see if the room is free to use.

They come back with a HUGE tv on wheels.
oh, it also has a huge tape editor and a vcr. lots of equipment.

So we say, "how did you get the tv?"

and Eric just kinda shrugs and doesn't say anything. it was the single funniest moment I have experienced at Emerson. Well, I have seen some hilarious weird shit goin down in the elevators that I will never understand but. right.

after we finish watching the commercials he's like, "I should probably go return this" ha.

it's getting towards the end of class and he asks, "are there any questions about the paper?" and Scott says, "yeah, do we have to do it?" and we all have a nice chuckle. and then Jon asks, "can we have it be due two classes from now instead of next week?"

And we are all prepared for a long battle of excuses.

And Eric stops, thinks, the kind of thinking where you can visibly see that he is thinking. you can just tell. and he says, "Sure."

easy as pie.
