Hmm... It's been a while since I posted. What's more, I've had a rapid succession of honest-to-god developments during that while. Bullet points away!
*I somehow managed to score a job. As of a couple of weeks ago, I have taken up the family business-- Barnes & Noble. Specifically, I'm in the music department at the B&N in the Prudential Center. Not a bad gig-- pretty low-key, decent pay, and I'm essentially getting paid to dig through racks of CDs, which is how I spend a good chunk of my free time anyway. What's more, Andy managed to land a job in the cafe. Now if we can only get Stacey working the book floor, we can begin complete Demonic takeover! (And in case you're wondering, I was only there for the tail end of the Bono signing the other day-- I showed up for my shift just in time to see his strut out. Pity-- I'd have loved to get him to sign one of my Negativland CDs, to go with my
Mark Hosler-signed U2 single)
*We finally found an apartment for next year. While not as cool as the piano factory would have been, it's still pretty nifty-- a little three-bedroom in the Fens. It's not huge, but it'll suit our needs just fine. Plus, it's right between the movie theater and the best damn taco place around. And it's cheap, which forgives a lot.
*Had a pretty close call with the Emerson honors program, but after some pleading with the honors honcho, I managed to get a reprieve (think of that one Looney Tune where Yosemite Sam begs the devil to give him one more chance to kill Bugs). Now I just need to make doubly sure I do well next semester, and I'll be fine).
*We're currently in talks for another, equally-kickass Demons of Stupidity show. More details as they congeal.
*Knocked two items off my "Find At All Costs" list: Malcom McLaren's Sex Pistols pseudo-documentary The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (finally released on DVD!), and Tonio K's Life in the Foodchain. Oddly enough, I found the latter at the Brimfield flea market, mislabeled as a bootleg of Tonio live at the Paradise. I would have liked to hear that, but the fact remains that I managed to accidentally buy an album I've been actively searching for for years.
I've done other stuff the past few weeks that probably warranted entries, but I don't really feel like making this one longer. These are the Cliff Notes-- the stuff I need to establish to make future entries make sense.
