1. Venison I adore venison. Lean and gamey and delicious! Good World, down in East Chinatown, does a beautiful Scandinavian venison entree with lingonberries. Mmmm.
2. Nettle tea
3. Huevos rancheros A brunchy favorite!
4. Steak tartare Korean style, mixed with shredded pears. Oh man, yum.
5. Crocodile
6. Black pudding Part of your nutritious full English Breakfast!
7. Cheese fondue A friend added taleggio to his fondue mix, which was utterly transportive.
8. Carp
9. Borscht Lots. My mom and I both make this, from my Finnish great-grandmother's recipe.
10. Baba ghanoush I think I may actually like it better than hummus.
11. Calamari Love!! Batter it, stir fry it, grill it, put in a salad, put it in my soup, put it on my nigiri sushi, I don't care. I have no idea why I love squid so much.
12. Pho Ohhh yes. LOVE.
13. PB&J sandwich
14. Aloo gobi There is a lot of Indian food on this list.
15. Hot dog from a street cart Dirty water hot dogs! Once a year, usually part of an excursion to the Metropolitan Museum. With kraut, mustard and ketchup.
16. Epoisses MMM yum. Nothing like a cheese that smells like gym socks and unclean nether regions but tastes like heaven.
17. Black truffle LOVE. Love a lot. Although I consider cooking with them almost cheating. It's like bringing a bazooka to a watergun fight.
18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes Don't like it terribly much.
19. Steamed pork buns SO GOOD. I grew up eating these, as we lived so near Chinatown when I was a baby. I don't speak any form of Chinese, but I did know "ching char siu bao" by the time I was 8!
20. Pistachio ice cream Mm! One of my favorite flavors. Especially when part of spumoni! Man, I haven't been to Spumoni Gardens in years. (That's L&B Spumoni Gardens, between Bensonhurst & Gravesend in Brooklyn. Worth it for the square Sicilian slices, the spumoni, and the old-school Brooklyn Italian kitsch.)
21. Heirloom tomatoes SO GOOD.
22. Fresh wild berries
23. Foie gras Love. I'm a sucker. I like poultry liver in general - pan fried chicken livers with shallots, any kind of pate, and foie gras is just the ultimate in the genre.
24. Rice and beans
25. Brawn, or head cheese
26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper (I've been building a spice tolerance in recent years, but I've got a fair way to go before I work up to this one)
27. Dulce de leche
28. Oysters Love LOVE love love LOVE love. Briny and sweet and delicious. I'm not sure I love any food more than fresh raw oysters. Especially when they're straight out of a Pacific Ocean bay! (As a NYer, Bluepoints are my baseline oysters, but I've gotta say the Pacific oysters in California knocked my pants off.
29. Baklava
30. Bagna cauda How have I not had bagna cauda!?? This seems absurd.
31. Wasabi peas Sometimes too many...
32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl We somehow completely missed doing this in San Francisco!
33. Salted lassi Salty lassi is actually my favorite kind.
34. Sauerkraut Preferably with wurst.
35. Root beer float The one at the Shake Shack kicks some serious ass.
36. Cognac with a fat cigar Macho and delicious!
37. Clotted cream tea Mmm yes.
38. Vodka jelly Blech.
39. Gumbo Just this week, in fact! I recommend Great Jones Cafe; cozy little hole in the wall, nice decor, great jukebox, good beer on tap, and a simple but excellent cajun/creole/soul food menu.
40. Oxtail In soup.
41. Curried goat
42. Whole insects I've had toasted grasshoppers crumbled into guacamole, which was really really tasty, but never whole insects. Given that the crumbled ones were so good, I'd probably be game to try a whole one (depending on the species...). It may have to be with my eyes closed, however.
43. Phaal I'm not a spice-pansy by any stretch, but I am by no means hardcore enough to try phaal.
44. Goat’s milk
45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth £60/$120 or more I wish!!!!
46. Fugu
47. Chicken tikka masala
48. Eel

51. Prickly pear
52. Umeboshi
53. Abalone
54. Paneer
55. McDonald’s Big Mac Meal
56. Spaetzle There was a hilarious incident where I tried to make my own spaetzle.... it wasn't pretty. Well, it was tasty, but I have NEVER in my life made such an absurd mess in the kitchen. Batter everywhere!
57. Dirty gin martini
58. Beer above 8% ABV Nation of Belgium, we love you.
59. Poutine Including poutine made with duck confit and duck fat gravy. Oh baby. If you're ever in Portland, ME, visit a little sandwich shop called Duckfat....
60. Carob chips Blech blech blech blech. My parents were on an unholy hippie diet when I was small.
61. S’mores Recently made an upscale version using fancy handmade marshmallows from Whole Foods, fancy chocolate and fresh blueberries. Violates the kitschyness, but ooh it was good!
62. Sweetbreads LOVE. I am a fan of organ meats, and grilled sweetbreads definitely a faves.
63. Kaolin
64. Currywurst
65. Durian It smells just as horrible as people say, but mmmm it is exceptionally yummy! We had durian dim sum in Chinatown and it was phenomenal. (For those of us able to get past the smell... even in small scoops it was pungent!)
66. Frogs' legs
67. Beignets, churros, elephant ears or funnel cake Fried dough = win.
68. Haggis
69. Fried plantain SO GOOD.
70. Chitterlings, or andouillette
71. Gazpacho
72. Caviar and blini (It would be wasted on me, as I don't really like caviar. Look, a luxury food I don't like!)
73. Louche absinthe
74. Gjetost, or brunost Yum!
75. Roadkill (If I was with someone who was very experienced in handling wild animals, and it was a clean kill.... maybe?)
76. Baijiu
77. Hostess Fruit Pie
78. Snail YUM. Sauteed in garlic and butter.
79. Lapsang souchong I love smoky flavors, though it does take a special mood to want lapsang souchong tea.
80. Bellini
81. Tom yum Yum indeed!
82. Eggs Benedict Mmmm. Have mastered poaching the egg, and one of these days I will learn to make a proper hollandaise. Don't tell Weight Watchers.
83. Pocky
84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant. I wish!
85. Kobe beef
86. Hare Love! Bunnies of all kinds are delicious.
87. Goulash
88. Flowers Zucchini blossoms are one of my very favorite treats of the summer.
89. Horse
90. Criollo chocolate
91. Spam
92. Soft shell crab Tempura-battered with ponzu sauce. yum!
93. Rose harissa
94. Catfish
95. Mole poblano
96. Bagel and lox
97. Lobster Thermidor As long as it can be made without tail meat... I'm allergic to lobster tails!
98. Polenta Glorious peasant food!
99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee Beautiful stuff. This is one of the rare coffees I will drink black.
100. Snake
