CHARACTER NAME: Sasori
EDENSPHERE NAME: Bunraku
PERSONALITY:
Sasori is a very introverted individual. He tolerates the company of others, but would rather be pursuing his art rather than socializing with the masses. His art consumes his entire life. He views true art to be eternal, something that never fades. Since being a ninja is his profession of choice, he expresses his art through his battle puppets. His puppets, fashioned of wood and steel, will win against the test of time. His collection of puppets, which is around three hundred, is his pride and his life's work. The number would be larger but he prides quality over quantity. He even developed a technique to turn a human into a puppet while still retaining the skills they possessed in life. He has done this many times before after finding an intriguing ability or two. The most notable is the leader of his village, the Third Kazekage. He even went as far as to turn himself into a human puppet, with only the core of his being kept in a container. In this way, he himself could be eternal as well, creating a new puppet body whenever he felt the need. He still considers this work largely incomplete. While his body no longer feels pain, he still feels his puppet body is bound by foolish human whims. A correction he is continually seeking to fix. Until then, he will view himself as somewhere between puppet and human.
By turning himself into a puppet, as close as he could anyway, he became more stoic and uncaring for the world than before. However, this doesn't mean he lacks emotions completely. He is more prone to anger, smugness, and curiosity than the other emotions, but they still reside within him. His rather large pet peeve is to be kept waiting and for good reason. His parents left on a mission and never returned. His grandmother and the villagers kept reassuring him they'd be back, and he waited for his parents to return for countless days and nights. Having learned the truth, when they never came back, he began to despise waiting in any fashion. However, he also hates making others wait in return.
His condition has given him little need to have attachment to others. He views sacrificing and assisting others as meaningless gestures. He also likes to always be prepared and consistently berates Deidara, his Akatsuki partner, for not doing the same. However, this does not put him above team work. In Akatsuki he has two partners. His first partner defected after trying to kill another member. His second outlived him. As for family, while he states he hates his grandmother and wants her dead, he left himself open on purpose during his last fight with her which lead to his death. The implications were never stated why, but it could have been to allow her to live or perhaps some more personal reason of his own.
TIMELINE: Post-Death. Chapter 275
BACKGROUND:
Sasori was born in the Hidden Village of the Sand (Sunagakure) during the time of the Great Ninja wars. His grandmother, Chiyo, was a respected elder among the Sand Village. Her abilities were unparalleled to most and her trademark skill was the puppet technique. His parents left on a mission one day and were killed by the White Fang of Konoha. Sasori, being very young at the time, waited day after day for them to come home. His grandmother kept telling him that they were sent on another mission and that he just had to wait a little longer.
Sasori became very lonely and would watch the other children outside with their parents. He watched their interactions and missed the parents he was waiting for to return. In order to get his mind off things, Chiyo taught her grandson her puppet technique and gave him a workshop to work in. Upon returning later, Chiyo found that Sasori had created two puppets in the image of his parents, one named father and one named mother. He controlled them to mimic the actions he had seen the other parents show to their children, but they were only puppets, and when he would lose focus, they would stop moving. They were not a replacement.
Sasori would leave the Hidden Village of Sand and become a rogue ninja. Upon leaving the village, he kidnapped and killed its leader, the Third Kazekage, and turned him into a puppet. No one knew at the time he committed the act and they searched in vane for their lost leader.
He joined an organization called Akatsuki, who sought to control the world. In Akatsuki, they moved in pairs of two. His first partner was Orochimaru. He defected when he failed to kill another member. Sasori held some anger toward this and has one of Orochimaru's agents as his spy.
Twenty years after leaving his place of birth, he would return with his new partner, Deidara, to kidnap Gaara, the Fifth Kazekage, for the monster he held inside him. As they were leaving with their captive, Sasori poisoned one of the following parties, Kankuro, Gaara's older brother. Instead of killing him, he leaves him there to die as the poison should kill him in three days.
Kankurou is saved by Sakura, a healer from Konoha, and informs the Sand council that it was Sasori who was part of the group to capture Gaara. This comes to the attention of Chiyo. Wanting to see her grandson again, she goes with the party to find them. They find both Deidara and Sasori with a very dead Gaara. Deidara takes Gaara's body and leaves, splitting the rescue party so that Sasori is left to fight Chiyo and Sakura.
In the end, Sasori loses the fight after revealing that he turned the Third Kazekage into a human puppet and that he actually had turned himself into one as much as he could. Chiyo stabs him through his living core in the center of his puppet body with the two puppets he created in the image of his parents. Before dying, he tells Sakura what the location of where to meet his spy in contact with Orochimaru, something he considered a useless gesture. Chiyo mentions after his death that he saw through the last attack, but didn't bother to dodge.
ABILITIES:
* UNLOCKED - Puppet Body: Sasori will be joining Edensphere in his puppet body. His control over his puppet technique will only be limited to moving himself around upon first arriving. His body is almost entirely made of wood and metal. At a glance, it looks like a normal human body, save for the joints, the metal blades that look like wings but can't actually fly, and a large coil of wire where his stomach should. Normal body movement will not be hindered, but he might be less than graceful at more complex actions. In a cavity on his chest is his human core. A beating organ with 'Scorpion' written across it. This is the part that is keeping him alive. All the other parts (head, arms, legs) can be replaced with other puppet parts. He can also move his core into another puppet and control it. While not having as many human parts as others, he will not require much if any sustenance to survive.
* Poison Making: He is a skilled poison maker. His post potent poison can kill a person in three days or less and needs a skilled medical ninja (or other scientist) to create an antidote. He normally coats all of his weapons and all of his puppet weapons with the liquid. This skill will come back to him after much experimentation. The basics should be easy enough to get back, slight temporary paralysis, feeling sickly, but the more complex one will be trail and error.
* Puppet Making (Normal): The bulk of his puppet making come from traditional materials such as cloth, wood and steel. They are generally humanoid and the size of a normal person. He might choose to replace arms for swords, have hidden daggers and kunai hiding in places, or have pockets ready with poison gas. He attaches chakra strings to these puppets and can move them as he chooses. This skill will come to him quite quickly. He'll have to tinker for hours and hours in a workshop to get it just right, but it is a skill that he was devoted to in his life, and he'll have an itching to do again once he remembers he used to.
* Puppet Making (From humans): These are very similar to his normal puppets, except they are made from humans. He'll scoop out the insides and make the outer shell as hard and durable as a normal puppet. Like the normal puppets they'll have weapon modifications. The major change is that any human puppet will gain the skills of the user in life. His favorite is the Third Kazekage puppet that can has the power of magnetism. So, with his human puppet of the Third Kazekage he can control an iron sand technique unique to him. Human puppets are very difficult to make so research will be needed. In other words, lots of botched experiments if he ever tries to regain the skill. He will also try to find someone much larger than himself to make a puppet of so he can hide in. A puppeteer's largest weakness is his back because he is always focusing on the puppet, but if you are inside the puppet, that is the best defensive position.
* 100 Puppet Technique: A puppet master's skill is evaluated in how many puppets they can control. At one point, Sasori could control one hundred at a time. Controlling one will take some time to get back into the swing. Two or three should be easy after that, but getting back up to one hundred is going to be a lot of hours at the gym so to speak.
* Mind control: In his prime, he had a rather large spy network across the land. Some were willing, some were sleeper agents that acted as normal until Sasori triggered the part of them that he controlled and then they became his minions to order about. He mostly uses them for information gathering, but will sacrifice them if the situation requires. This one is going to be quite difficult to get back as controlling the human brain is not one of his strong points.
* Other ninja skills: Most ninja can walk on water, stick to walls, and poof into thin air. The difficulty on regaining these will be fairly medium to difficult to retain as they aren't his passion like his puppet making.
ASPIRATIONS:Since he is starting out in his puppet body, Sasori will start out trying to discover what he was before. Was he even human or was he always this way? And during this process, I want him to rediscover his art bit by bit. Starting small with hand held trinkets and moving up to wooden puppets. Eventually, he could move on to creating puppets from creatures. Animals and other things he finds around. The need to create will be curiosity at first, but grow into the obsession that seems to surround his life.
