[Waking up in a patch of grass in the middle of the woods is more of a relief than it might normally have been for Edward, or anyone else for that matter. The last memory he has of himself in his right mind is of the Malnosso, and their strange and terrifying ability to summon Lunar Rain seemingly out of nowhere. After that, he'd ( Read more... )

[Edward will probably find her sitting at the fountain eating lunch when he checks the plaza. She eats her sandwich happily, but when a familiar face - Edward's face - catches her eye Winry lowers the food from her mouth. He's back...?]

[At the sight of her, he's at first relieved to have found her alive, and then mortified, because he has no idea what happened to her after he'd attacked her and left her for dead. Did she die too? How long had he been gone? She looks well enough, but then, so did he, really. She's staring, though, so he has little time for speculation.

There's that shame again, hitting him like Leonid's chains. He does something rather unusual for him- he steps right over to the fountain, not coming too close to avoid spooking her, and drops right to his knee, head bowed. Bad enough that he'd done this back home and attacked the Force- but Winry was an innocent, and a non-combatant. This was unforgivable.]

I... I'm sorry... I'm sorry for what I did...!

[When she sees him coming closer she brightens up. Oh good, he's back!]

[And then, stunned at his actions - dropping to his knees, head bowed - she drops her sandwich.]

[Finally she stands, frantically. Winry puts a hand on his shoulder, and pushes it back. Hopefully he'll cooperate and look up at her. Seriously, what is this nonsense?]

G-get up! Don't do that! I'm not-

[At her urging, he lifts his head at the very least, though he has difficulty meeting her eyes. Why was she so happy to see him? He'd attacked her! She could have died!]

I'm glad you're alright...

[Well if he won't stand up, she'll kneel down.]

It's okay, I - it didn't even scar. Edward, I heard what happened from Sigmund. Are you okay? What was that?

[Hesitantly, he looks over at her, uncharacteristically uncertain. The vermiform part of him has always given him reason to question himself, and to have it happen twice now...

People here are far too forgiving. But he owes her an explanation, at the very least.]

It's... a long story.

[HE CAN HELPLESSLY DELAY A BIT THOUGH /o/]

Oh. [With her experience that usually means, "You're not going to know."]

I'm glad you're back. I was so worried when I heard...

[And his experience is that people pester and pry until they get their way, so her not asking is a big surprise. He rises to his feet, offering a hand out to her if she wants it. He doesn't want her to have to sit in the dirt on his account.]

Even after what I did?

[She takes it, smiling a thank you.]

I may not know you too well, but I do know you wouldn't have hurt me like that if you could help it.

[Come on now, come back to the fountain and sit down, you poor girl D8 though actually, he has no idea how her health is, so he'll be watching her closely for a bit.]

Of course not... but still, I... [He'll feel horrible for a long while.]

[People magic'd her to health. She's be fine, and she acts like it.]

Edward, please. I'm sure it's much worse for you than me. I was able to get help. [Despite it being one of her more horrible experiences, it's not like she was on the ground long before she was found.]

[He can't really agree with that, but he does sit down, hands clasped in the fabric of his pants. His lunaglyph isn't pulsing anymore, but... he knows it's still there. And that just makes everything worse.]

...It's alright. I- ...I'm glad that I was stopped. That... I died. It's much better than the alternative.

[Oh Veros, if he'd killed Sigmund...]

[Er - well. Maybe they don't know each other well enough for her to just. Say that. Without it being taken the wrong way.]

Wh- what I mean is-!
