Catch up part 1
Long time no write! First things first, I want to say that you guys WILL get the promised holiday cards, I SWEAR. Eventually. XD I have been sick- I'm better at this point, but I was sick basically the entire break- so there was the feeling like death thing, and then I've just been being lazy and not doing anything. Walking down to the mailbox is obviously too much work. XD But I promised, and I already have them made out and everything, so I might as well. So you guys will get them. I PROMISE. I'm hoping by Valentine's. :P
So what else have I been up to, besides sick and school? Eh, not a whole lot. I decided at some point that I was going to play through Phoenix Wright again, and I'm on Trials and Tribulations. Man. I forgot how cute Ema was. I came out of Justice for All shipping Jake/Lana, what the ever loving hell, that doesn't even EXIST in fandom. Also I forgot that Diego/Mia was actual CONFIRMED canon. I shipped them- obviously, HELLO, LOOK AT THE FEELS THERE, but somehow missed the line in the first case about him being her boyfriend. Whoops. ^_^; That being said, the left shoulder button on my DS is starting to go, which means that I'll probably end up buying a 3DS in the next year. Which is just as well, because Capcom has announced that PW5 is going to be on the 3DS (and yes, they ARE releasing it stateside). Soooo obviously I would have to buy one anyway. Obviously.
Just got my W-2's from Old Work, which is incredibly annoying, since the application for school scholarships is due February 15th, and you must have your FAFSA stuff done already when you do that. So basically, I'm not going to make that deadline, which SUCKS. Blah. THANKS, OLD EMPLOYER, FOR STILL FUCKING ME OVER EVEN AFTER I STOPPED WORKING THERE.
It's kind of sad that I've been more active in Tumblr recently (and even then, it's really not that much) than I have in DW/LJ, as far as posting is concerned. I'm actually better about reading stuff in DW/LJ, but Tumblr... I dunno, I'm lazy, and with Tumblr I can easily just hit the reblog button on stuff I like and not have to make commentary on it if I don't want to. Speaking of, Tumblr is here if you want to follow or whatever.
So, school stuff. The last time I wrote, it was just before finals. They... actually went pretty okay. I ended up with a 3.75 GPA for the semester, which isn't too shabby. President's List is 3.5-4.0, so I made President's List. Pretty awesome. My inner perfectionist still cringes at it because it's not a 4.0, but eh. It's as good as I could've possibly hoped for anyway- A's in everything except trig, which was a B, which I wasn't getting an A in anyway. I actually had a teacher recently explain it perfectly, how with some people, when they get a B, they're basically -surrendering- to a B. I was like, YES, that's EXACTLY it. And yes, that means I somehow pulled off an A for Art History. I got a 91 on the final, figure that one out. Highest in the class, apparently. O_o Granted, the final was open book, but it was a big test, and you had to choose your battles as far as what you were going to try and find in the book. So clearly I absorbed something. I think the biggest thing I'll take from that class is an appreciation for architecture. I never thought of it as art before, but I find myself noticing it a lot more now, and recognizing specific elements and cultures (Greek/Roman/Gothic is freaking EVERYWHERE). So that's good I guess?
Also school related, I also got an e-mail invitation to Phi Theta Kappa, which is the honor society for two year schools. Pretty cool. There's a $70 initiation fee to join, which is not so cool, but I think the pros outweigh the cons here. I have until April something or other to decide, in any event.
I'll do another post in a minute with specific class stuff- hence the part 1, because I waited so long to post this that I felt it would be too ridiculous for one entry even under a cut- so if you're not interested in that, obviously feel free to skip. ^_^ ---
