On the way home this afternoon, I saw a little boy and girl standing on the sidewalk with a cooler and a table, selling lemonade. The little boy was waving a hand-made cardboard sign at the cars passing by. I whizzed by, but then I stopped and turned around. Getting out of the car, I walked up to them and asked what they had. "Lemonade, sugar free and with sugar". "How much is it?" "50 cents." "What are you doing with the money?" The little boy thought I was asking where to put the money, and he pointed to a plastic container. I asked the question again, and then the little girl said they were saving up for a video game. Their mom was in a lawn chair with their cocker spaniel on a leash staked to the ground.
50 cents poorer, but a lot richer in spirit, I went home with a cup of sugared lemonade. The End.
