On the 12th Day of Christmas

Jan 05, 2013 20:15

Hard to explain, and given that the year's only 5 days old, it may be premature, but something seems quite different about 2013. Perhaps it's me, and since I've been in the reflective mood that the holiit's nedays and particularly the New Year always bring to me, it may well be, but it seems to me that the people around me are more settled, less frenetic, more willing to extend kindnesses (however small) to each other.

In other news, I had a very nice week--a dear friend came home from Boston, and we did Christmas together Thursday evening, including a yummy dinner at Bosco's, a local favorite brewpub, followed by present swapping, bubbly and Christmas chocolates. Then Friday was a piano lesson, lunch at The Local Gastropub (corn chowder and grilled cheese) and a game night that evening with other friends--I just love playing board games! And we had a delicious chili supper, with cornbread, oyster crackers, chips, and my hot chocolate brownies.

Today (Saturday) was brunch with another friend, followed by undecorating the house while listening to Christmas music for the last time this year (until December 1). Chocolate chip cookies need to be baked, so let me leave you with this note...C #. ;)
