We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner--everyone was congenial, festive & enjoyed the good food & company; we played Apples to Apples & UNO after dinner; much to my chagrin, I wasn't on a roll in either game, but it was a lot of fun.
Black Friday found me nowhere NEAR a mall--you couldn't pay me enough to get stampeded, pepper-sprayed, or otherwise abused in body, mind and spirit to shop. I have found some Christmas gifts though--got my sister & b-i-l & her youngest daughter/hubby digital picture frames; found a policeman dress-up costume for my oldest great nephew & a great big soft fuzzy dog for the littlest one, who's in the throes of the terrible twos and tearing up everything.
I also scored some books for friends, so I'm on the way to getting finished.
Saturday found me at my home church to help them decorate for Advent & Christmas (2 Christmas trees, a nativity scene, lots of miscellaneous decorations, greenery, etc.), followed by a pizza lunch, then a little shopping for Christmas cards, a black skirt & a couple of Panera Bread's gingerbread man cookies (those things are addictive!).
Today was the first Sunday of Advent--after church, I went to Grace-St. Luke's for our monthly service at their feeding/hospitality ministry called "More Than A Meal", which offers a hot meal, table fellowship and worship to a mixture of street people, underemployed/unemployed, and just plain lonely folks. Then 3 of my friends & I went downtown to Calvary Church to hear their annual "Messiah" concert, followed by dinner at Perkins, which for me was breakfast.
Came home, turned on some Advent music & lit my Advent wreath, and now getting ready for bed. It's gotten really cold here, with snow showers tonight, tomorrow & Tuesday. Wow--it's not even winter yet, so I wonder what January will be like!
Night, friends.
