Halloween Hauntings & Happenings

I've succeeded in mailing my international, out of town and local Halloween cards! Hooray!

Today I packaged up some children's books & coloring books for my 2 little great-nephews, along with a Sesame Street Halloween DVD I thought they'd enjoy.

My yard & house are decorated--and I've hosted the Halloween party I wrote about; it was a fun evening--everyone came in costume, we enjoyed dinner, for which I tried out a new recipe--a Haunted Halloween Chili Bake; it had 2 pounds of ground beef, 2 cans chili beans and shredded cheddar cheese poured into a casserole; all that gets topped with crescent roll dough (unfolded), that I cut Halloween designs into with a small cookie cutter (bats!), then topped with cornmeal and baked for 30 minutes. Super simple & tasty! We had salad and a cake to go with it; my co-host was supposed to make cupcakes but she's both a) a slacker and b) definitely not a cook, so she bought a cake from the bakery. Probably safer, but I would have baked the cupcakes. After dinner,we played games & watched the first episode of Warehouse 13, a summer show on Sy-Fy that's all about this warehouse in the desert where all sorts of mystical objects are housed. Our heroes are a male/female pair of government agents--think Mulder & Scully very lite indeed. The show's not bad, although the fx are cringeworthy, but I may try to watch more of it next summer. Personally, I'd have preferred to watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, but then that's my all-time Halloween favorite. I watched it Saturday afternoon before the party to get in the mood. :)

More Halloween hijinks this weekend at our neighborhood bash--got to make sugar cookies for that, and then we're almost to the Witching Night itself!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Then last night, the group I mentor at church had our Halloween bash--one of our older members has really grown in confidence--she dressed up as Lady Gaga. I'll have to post pix--it was too funny!
