Alright, which of you bastards turned me into a bee while I was away in Seattle for the weekend?
Seattle was great, by the way - one of my favourite cities on this planet, young, vibrant and full of good stimuli. I caught up with lots of my favourite people there: former housemates and learned popculture gurus Dean and Thomas; beautiful Allison who was the nicest person I met through Craigslist; the very fine-fettled
fraxl and
gehn, one of the perfectest couples I know; Jarvis Cocker, Simon Pegg, Grant Morrison and Bryan Talbot. But, as my LJ interest list still attests, Seattle is really all about the Lindsays, two of the coolest and cutest people I know. The one of them put me up, kept me in Lucky Charms and Okami all weekend, and facilitated my going home to Edmonton with $560 worth of discounted Nintendo stuff; the other is the most awesome and dreadful person I know, the ultimate Geminean reality check to my Libran whimsy, one of the smartest academics I know but serious in all the places I am most frivolous and probably vice versa, so I'm sure she disapproves of me utterly. She has immaculate taste in music, and less important things too, and endlessly changing, endlessly amazing hair. I adore them both a little bit, but don't tell them. The title for this post, if I wasn't so vain, was going to be "Seattle Is Love. And Lindsays."
(nb I don't mean to sideline those that I didn't quite catch up with this weekend. I missed
formicadinette because it was too sunny for her to answer her phone, which seems reasonable; and
channonyarrow because I wussed out of a midnight rendezvous when I had to be up at 6am the next morning to catch a plane, which is less so. And I didn't see Matt or Amanda or Rooty or Morrissey, due to my stupid choice of week to visit. Well, this just means I'll have to head back down sometime soon, I guess.)
Anyway, that's all just a list of names that, if you don't know anyone on it, you'll have zoned out or even unfriended me already. The real news is that my hair is now red and blue, which is pretty cool. But you can't see it yet, because the inferior blue dye I picked up in Seattle has turned out a mimsy turquoise, so
mostlycrazy and I need to re-blue asap! The red is amazing though.
Oh yes, and I have a key to a huge unfurnished apartment of my very own in Edmonton now. My address is 4F, The Palisades, 9820-104 St, Edmonton T5K 0Z1. Come visit! Or, you know, just send me stuff. Furniture ideally.
And now I have to go write a Magic the Gathering article (by tomorrow), a Canadian-friendly standup comedy routine (by Monday the 14th) and pick up Angela from the airport (tomorrow, to stay for a week). Life is all go. See you on the other side, probably!
