For my own peace of mind, I have decided that Alex was actually just pretending to work for the Company because he was trying to keep an eye on Lincoln for Michael - sort of working undercover on Linc's team, just waiting for the best moment to double-cross the General and take everybody down. I know that's probably fanwanking on my part, though.)

Well, that and if Alex left, Team Linc would be seriously lacking in the brains department!

I think it's also a usefulness thing for Alex. That one of the worst things about Cameron's death was the feeling of powerlessness, that he felt powerless to do anything about it. I could see him rationalising the choice to stay and work under the guise of feeling useful. Even if he doesn't agree with the Company, even if he knows they're evil and manipulative, even if he knows the likelihood of being able to work for/with them and acheive something good out of it is very slim, at least he's doing *something*. At least there's some sort of goal that he can try to achieve.

But, yes, for a smart guy, Alex is very capable of lying to himself, of rationalising choices.
