Testing DW crosspost feature, saving TSS, and Death Note

Apr 23, 2009 10:08

I am mostly posting this as a test of the Dreamwidth cross-posting feature, and I saw from other such posts that the lj cuts don't work with cross-posting yet, so I'm going to try and keep this short. (I'm generally incapable of making anything short, so we'll see how that goes. *g*)

(I will try to use some cuts, to see if the code for the LJ cuts is working now.)

[ETA: Oh. I guess the LJ-cuts work on DW but not on LJ. Well, that's kind of annoying. I guess I'll add them by hand, for now. Also, I need to remember to turn off the option to cross-post when I edit the DW entry, because then the DW edits will over-write any LJ edits that I might have made.

... Yeah, I don't think I will use this feature, for now. I'll have to wait and see if it gets better in the future.]

I'm honestly getting whiplash with all these articles about whether or not TSCC is canceled. Some of the articles seem to take it completely for granted that the show has been canceled, and others make it sound like it's still very much in the air. It's very hard to know what to believe! So I'm choosing to believe that there is still hope, and I want to plug Save TSCC here. (And wow, that website was really hard to find using google! It wasn't even on the first page when I searched for "Save Sarah Connor", and it was close to the bottom of the first page when I searched for "Save TSCC". That's... not a good sign, is it.) I've been trying to stream episodes from the FOX site, ever since I figured out how to make that website work, but I can't tell if it's making any difference to the hit counters. *is sad*

I really hope TSCC doesn't get canceled! I want to see what happens next!

In the meantime, I've been watching the anime show Death Note, mostly because I've been looking for an anime show to watch, and I found it for free on Hulu. And I've been really enjoying it, so far. I expected that it would be sort of like Bleach - an action show with the main characters fighting monsters somehow connected with the world of the dead. But it hasn't been like that at all. So far, it's been more like a mixture of Dexter and my father's beloved Epitafios, only with a supernatural twist - how does one catch a serial killer who can control the time and place of the death from a distance, without needing to be anywhere near the body? (And how can a serial killer best use those advantages to keep from getting caught?)

I've watched 11 episodes now, and it's been really interesting to watch the battle of wills unfolding between the aforementioned serial killer, and the people investigating him. It's amazing how many clues the investigators can still get, even without being able to rely on alibis, or on the location of the victims before death, and I love the way it's all so logically laid out.

As I said, you can find season 1 for free on Hulu, so I definitely recommend that people check it out. This series has really reminded me just how different and varied anime shows can be.

tscc, death note
