Writing resolutions, little thoughts
This is actually a rant, but it's about ficcing and my fanficcing habits, so I think it'll be more comfortable here than in my main journal.
I have two, in fact, and it goes together.
1) I have been, and am guilty of, being a mediocre writer but analytical fan who doesn't read the comm she writes for.
There's no excuse for this, really. It's a bad habit, born during my older times in a former fandom, when like the essay said I was awashed with so many PLZ RITE MOAR feedback (and not the good PLZ RITE MOAR feedback, either, the kind that makes you wonder if the reader actually read the fic) from the main comm, that I only read from specific communities and rec lists. And there's none of that here, in my current fandom. The net result? I don't read, even if the Code Geass fandom thus far have been full of excellent reviewers who make beautiful comments.
2) I have been, and am guilty of muttering every so often that the Code Geass fandom has too few fics and nobody writes my rare pairs dammit. In fact, I have been *waiting*.
Code Geass is a really small 'active fandom' despite having a rather large fandom, and I don't think it's because of a lack of love but perhaps lack of network-building. Sure, it's a difficult fandom to write for due to its pacing and how we've been cliffhanging for a few months, but that can't be all of it. The reason most people won't write fic for any one fandom is they feel there isn't enough traffic for their efforts, regardless of the love. I'm not saying we want a BNF, but more fic and more fic comments in all directions.
In conclusion, this amounts to : I'll read more, comment more, and I'll write more. Hey, instead of complaining no one writes Millay/Lulu, I could write a few nice ones, and that might convince people to start fantasizing, too. Of course this is a little late, but there's no such thing as total fandom death, aye? I really am bad at commenting, of course, and being in selected comms for so long gives me this sky-high expectation...and that's not really feasible in CG's environment, where most authors are like me and mediocre, and not very many 'greats' crossovered to. So it's just us, the little guys.
The previously mentioned little thoughts : If someone random tries to rape-force Lulu to take it in the mouth, he'll probably bite that someone's penis off and use it as a club instead of whimpering scandalously, unless they're holding Nanaly hostage in a completely impossible situation. This includes when he was ten. Second, if someone he REALLY needs professional-wise suggests he gives them sex for further service (Diethardcoughcough), Lulu is more likely to do the following :
A) Geass command : "Henceforth you will be as ascetic as a monk. Nothing will get it up. NOTHING. The thought of sex will be TRAUMATIC to you. You cannot think of sex, let alone doing it, EVER AGAIN. Also anytime you happen to visualize me naked, you will see the Emperor Charles Zi Britannia dancing Swan Lake naked in your mind. And stay loyal to me."
B) Geass command : "Instead of having the hots for me, you will be in love with plastic chairs for LIFE. You will feel incredible, irresistible desire for chairs, their lovely armrests, you will be chairsexual. And also loyal to me because I can't have you defecting for Britannian chairs, but that's professional, you understand."
C) Geass command : "You are now sexually attracted to robots. Try the Guren Nishiki, especially if Kallen is around. You can get insurance money from Ougi, if you need some. Also, stay loyal to me like a mindless zombie. :D"
D) "All right, I'll do what you say. After we conquer Britannia. I do not believe in making down payments on anything but mortgage, and that includes you. Consider it something to look forward to---and no, you may not touch my butt in the meantime." [Bluff]
....than just accepting a casual sex relationship or allow himself to be molested. Because Lelouch dislikes the idea of being a sexual target, and it's not in the uke 'I am so violated help ;___;' way, but the 'what the HELL are you doing? >:[' way. I appreciate the pairing, but the Geass is VERY versatile and Lelouch's been known to use it for insanely small purposes, if you're trying to make it so he can't Geass his undesired sexual aggressor(tm), come up with a better reason. 'Being Geassed already' or 'Blindfolded' works, and I'm sure you can try coming with more. I don't mind hot sex and I don't mind noncon, but well....OOC is OOC, you know."
Lastly, a question to those who read this journal in particular : What do you prefer, shortfics, drabbles, or longfics? Do you want to see drabbles and random crack here, too, or just fics of moderately chewy content?
