#215: Seduction. Have you ever seduced someone or has anyone ever seduced you?

Jan 28, 2008 22:24

This is an interesting topic to come up. Because if not for very recent events, I would have had a very dull response to this: No. People will assume I am lying and they can believe what they wish. But up until the past week, I have not attempted to seduce anyone, nor has anyone genuinely tried to seduce me. Oh, certainly, I have had my fair share of women trying to hit on me… I am not completely ignorant or oblivious, but I knew they never had much a chance, and deep down I think they knew it.

Quite simply put, I was never interested. Not so much not interested in women, as not interested in them romantically. This is because, as I came to realize many years later, they were not her. And if it were not for her, I never would have known a true attempt at being seduced.

Her re-emergence into my life on the mere chance of a case Artie and I are working on has changed my world. I never quite realized just how much she meant to me… that no other woman I ever met was enough. How could they be, when I compared them to her? Delia was light years ahead of her time, a woman who demanded she be treated for her worth in an era where women were treated like cattle or a man’s property. But even then she had her timidity, her slight sense of respect. Because never in a million years would she have done then what she did last week…

She confessed that she loved me.

And for the first time in my life, I was speechless. I had no idea what to say, how to react. Thankfully, I did know what to do.

I have never known such bliss, such perfection. I do not know how I lived before, knowing what I know now. I know she will try my patience, she will push my limits. But in all honesty… I look forward to every step of the way.
