creativity and cleverness are by their very nature intertwined. a clever rehash creates a new setting, a new presentation; and - especially in this postmodern world - is not presentation an integral part of art? a caveat to this is that art can be both creative or destructive, but it's very nature is the in formation or reformation of something (clay, marble, paint, excrement, words, thought, essence). *
your creativity may not come in the most opportune form for your current goals but that does not mean it's not there. creativity is stifled by work/exhaustion. at least, that's certainly the case with me. got to chill, relax. listen read and think. this course of action is doing wonders for me. oh, and turn the tv off. forever.
'...clever only comments...' -- what's wrong with comments? I can think of some great works that were largely intended to comment: The Wizard of Oz, Animal Farm, Garden State (my interpretation of it at least), etc.

a couple lines in your entry remind me of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. tCIotDitN-T. Everyone should read that book, it's awesome. EVERYONE. DO IT.

* a deeper thought on this line is to blur the line of reality and what it is to be. Is not all art, all creation, just a clever rendering of what has been, has happened, what was there before? btw, i blame these deep thoughts on huckabees. oh, and not having anything to do other than ponder the true meanings of existance. (to depth once more: what else can we do but ponder the true meanings of existance? isnt all that we do eventually and basically toward that goal?)... (probably not). (or maybe). (i dont really know, it is late).
