This takes place in Magnolias-verse, but could be read as a standalone. This is for arabianred, since she wanted R/J, and this could also be taken as practice for ficathon, since the theme is songfic.

Yeah, I'm doing another song from that CD FOR ficathon, so it's actually good practice. I have a feeling that most of my ficathon-ing will be angsty ^^;

Yeah, Raye's... Raye's this rich girl who's never had to worry about money, but she doesn't let it define her like a lot of the others do, in this fic arc. Like, it'll show in what she wears and how she carries herself, but she's not particularly into bling-bling or ostentation or flaunting herself. I wanted to contrast her with the other girl, Heather, who's basically this nouveau riche little princess who wants to be Raye but gets it all wrong and just can't rock out the way Raye does :P. The names were all meant in a satirical manner :P Winston Newport III probably dies of lung cancer :P

I don't know why I almost never have Jadeite coming from a wealthy upper-class background in any AUs I write. It's probably the fact that he knew how to drive a bus in the manga :P I dunno. Anyway. Yeah, she finds him intriguing, particularly as he doesn't fall all over her or make assumptions, and of course he's attracted to her, and not just for her pretty face.

And yes, we definitely see the discrepancy between Raye and her friend Heather. As for Jadeite, you always depict him super well, so it works!! Oh angst ... I'm not even sure what song(s) I'm going to use yet. ^^;

Although, now when I'm listening to the radio or etc, I try to see if I can make a fic out of the lyrics.

I may add another part to this, to see what happens to R&J after they go down to dance. So you may get a bonus part two, though it can't turn into a multipart since I must also start ficathon!
