I haven't read "Chemistry" yet, so I should really go and do that. But even coming to this cold, without any background... this was *amazing*. DeMilo rings true to what little we saw of him, and the encounter with Ambrose is heartbreakingly plausible. Leona is a great POV character, through whose eyes the reader can recognize the Central City underworld culture you've expanded on. Nice use of book canon, too.

Ooh. I'm glad. This is the first Very Serious narrative prose I've written in a really long time, and I thoroughly enjoyed writing it.

You know, I think I might be in love with your Leona. That's one strong and damaged lady, there. And this is so heartbreaking after reading Chemistry, when you've seen what might have been, and how gently terrible reality is by comparison. Damn. Oh, Glitch.

And, oddly enough, I now feel curiously sympathetic towards DeMilo. The man's a sleaze, but an oddly decent one.

Fabulous stuff. Like one of those old noir movies, in occupied Berlin. Beautiful.
