WTF?

The first episode of the new season of Doctor Who is going to feature heretofore unseen villains known as the "Adipose."

The Adipose.

That's right, boys and girls, the Doctor's new fearsome enemies are known as "Fatties."  Someone please wrest the crack pipe from Russell T. Davies' palsied hands.

fandom, doctor who, stoopid

Well, it's not like the oversized, murderous saltshakers or the Cybermen were any less silly.

Adipose!

They look like marshmallows with eyes.

As long as they give said saltshakers a rest for a while (read as the next several seasons), I'll be happy.

I want to see more master. And why do all the new companions have to be from Earth, huh?

Not being a fan of the Classic Who, I can't answer your question. I will tell you that I'm dreading having all three women, Rose, Donna, and Martha, in the TARDIS at the same time. Martha's going to be bitter about Rose, Rose is going to be jealous that the Doctor moved on and she's not "special," and Donna's going to pull her usual thick-headed yelling routine. Oi...I've not seen the episode yet, but I already have a headache. =P

I have to say, Captain Jack is the only companion from DW 2.0 that I like unreservedly. I could get behind Martha if she were less needy, which is exactly what she became.

IN THE LAST EPISODE. GAH!

And I have never understood what's so all-fired great about Princess Chav.

I'm a hopeless romantic, especially in hopeless situations. So, naturally, I liked Rose. I'm not going to get into the whole Rose-gate issue. I've learned to stay away from that whole thing because of some dolts on facebook who were determined to be pissy about it. I'm not really interested in debating about what made her so much better than any other companion (mostly because the only Classic companion with whom I am familiar is Sarah Jane and only because she was in Series 2).

I will say that I am not happy with the decision to bring her back. It's not been long enough, honestly. Bringing her back now is just going to rob the emotion from the end of Series 2. Also, the Doctor was just getting over her, and now they're going to bring her back? Dumb move, IMO.

Definitely a dumb move. But it seems RTD is all about the cheap shots.

At least when it comes to cheap theater, anyway. =P
