I spent over half of today making the ruffle to go around the hem of my dress. Before gathering it was about 21 feet long...and I had to add another panel...
I am totally beat! Sewing is a mostly passive hobby, but damn if it isn't tiring.
The ruffle still has to be sewn onto the dress, then I want to add some pretty trim over the seam...finally, a few well placed bows to top it all off. There are some nice pre-tied ribbon bows at Wal-Mart that I may use instead of making my own...simply to save myself the headache.
I still haven't decided exactly what I want to do for the bodice details...after those, I'm going to make some sort of hair accessory to match, and possibly a simplified version of the dress for one of my Blythes to wear (and I mean SUPER simplified).
I'm pretty sure I'd rather buy a petticoat at this point, because I am going to want a break from sewing for a while!! Or at least, I'd rather spend my time sewing an actual dress...
I've spent two days apprenticing at the bakery so far, and I am really enjoying it! The owner is really nice and laid back; so are all the other employees/apprentices. I was honestly worried about it being an uptight or Jesus-y environment, haha. Around here, you never know what you're going to get! Anyway, I go back on Tuesday and will probably "work" there 2-3 days a week.
I also applied for and was offered a part-time receptionist job at the Humane Society. It's Thurs-Sun, fixed hours, which is nice. I had to take a drug test and they're doing a background check; it's making me totally paranoid despite not having anything to be paranoid about. I thought I'd hear back from them before now, since I took the test on Thursday. Even though I already know the results, it's still sort of nervewracking!
We're kittensitting Ashley's baby Lulu again this weekend...not only has she grown a lot in the past three weeks, she's also gotten a lot more rambunctious! Still cuter than a button.
