It had been 5 months after that conversation in the park with Sho, and today, after 5 months and a half he was coming back there. Back to the place he had shared during 3 years with Sho, and the place he hadn't come back after what had happened that day...

Somehow, he had been scared to be back there before, but finally, he felt that he was ready, that Sho was ready.

During this 5 months, Sho had proved him that he meant him, he had supported him, made time to talk to him... They weren't back together, but things were better between them.

Aiba smiled to himself, even after all the bad memories, that place felt like home. Living with Jun was good, but he felt like a guest there during months, but it wasn't until Jun's girlfriend was moving with him that Jun finally allowed Aiba to go somewhere else. Aiba chuckled softly, he was incredibly lucky to have a friend like him.

He kept looking around the house, as Sho has told him, all of his things were at the same place he left them, Sho hadn't touched anything. Everything was the same...

He was still lost in his thoughts when he heard the door getting open.

"Ah! You're already here! I didn't know at what hour you'd be coming"

"Yeah, arrived just a little ago" He smiled to Sho and then noticed the big bag he was carrying.

"What's that?"

"Ah, I realised we didn't have an extra futon, and since there is just a bed, I'm sleeping here in the living"

Aiba's eyes opened wide. When he accepted the offer from Sho of coming back he didn't thought that they had only one bed.

"Are... you sure? I can sleep in the futon or in the sofa"

"Of course I'm sure. Now please, make yourself comfortable, this is your house too after all"

Aiba smiled at him, he had to admit he was glad to come back home, despite of all the bad memories, that had been the place that kept his happiest too.

"I'll prepare dinner, so you don't have to worry about that. Just let me put the futon on its place and I'll head to the kitchen" Sho told him, giving him a coy smile

"You mind if I take a bath?" He felt a little hesitant after all had been a while since the two of them shared the house

"Masaki, of course I don't mind, and as I just told you this is your house too so you can do all you want without worrying, ok?"

Aiba nodded and grabbed his bag, but Sho was faster and grabbed the bag taking it to the bedroom, Aiba followed him with a shy look on his eyes, like when at first they move in together.

Sho placed the bag on the bed, and before going outside he gave him a quick hug.

"Welcome home Masaki" he said before closing the door.

As days passed by, things started to feel less awkward to Aiba. They had even developed a routine, by the time Masaki wake up Sho was either preparing breakfast or waiting for him sitting at the table. Sho had many details towards him, and he had to admit he liked to feel like this, with Sho taking care of him.

Aiba was glad Sho was keeping his word, even when they were not together, it felt great being together with Sho. Every day, he'd come for work and sit to explain how his day had gone to Aiba and Aiba would do the same, talking about the guests in the hotel or the new show he'd want to watch.

Aiba was still unsure, but little by little, that was disappearing, and the doubts of going back to live with Sho after what had happened faded away.

He was still feeling bad that Sho had to sleep in the futon on the living room, so some days they had reversed positions, leaving Sho to sleep on the bed while Aiba took the futon. Even during those days, Aiba would wake up to the smell of breakfast and find Sho waiting for him with a smile.

As time passed by, Aiba found himself thinking more and more about going back with Sho, but the doubts about if that'd work were still there, floating in the air. Jun would always offer the same advice any time he'd ask him, to listen to his heart. It was only him the one that could know what he wanted or how he could be happy.

Aiba chose to follow his heart once again.

SHO’S POV:

It's been 5 months since their talk in the park, 5 months since he had decided he needed to change the way he was living and set for once and for all his priorities straight.

He had realized by now that, despite how much he loved his job, there were things that matter most and he was going to do his best to not lost that of sight.

After his meeting with Aiba, the next day he was able to go to the office more cheerful, more himself. Somehow, after having the chance to speak his mind and to listen Masaki's side of things, he felt relieved, he knew was a step on the right direction. He had made his decision of taking Nino out of his life even before having that talk with Aiba, even if that could threaten his position at the law firm.

That same day of the conversation, Nino had called him and he took the chance to tell him he could get lost, that he couldn't give him the world. He already had that with Aiba and he had lost it because of what had happened with him, and despite of Ninomiya's pleads, it was over. He talked with his boss about not wanting to have more bonds with Ninomiya and for his surprise Nagase-san had understood, telling him he would take care of that.

And finally, after 5 months, Aiba was coming back home. Sho knew it was not the same, they weren't back together, but it was enough for him being able to watch Aiba's smile and have his presence around. That was what his life had been lacking those months, the other presence, even only as a friend... he just wanted to be close to him, he needed him to be happy and he wanted to be there to help him in any way he could.

Some days ago, when he heard Jun and Aiba talking about Aiba wanting to move from Jun's since his girlfriend was moving in, he took the chance to ask him. He didn't mind to move out and looking for a new place for himself if that could make things easier for Aiba. But to his surprise, Aiba had said that there was no need, that they could share the apartment. To say Sho had been in a cloud since that day would be too little, he couldn't avoid to smile all the time. It felt like the first time Aiba was coming to Tokyo to live with him, tho this time, there weren't together as lovers. But anyway, it was more than enough for Sho.

That day, he tidied the house and went out to buy a new futon. Somehow they had never needed an extra one, but since they had only one bed in the apartment and he wanted Aiba to use it, it was ok for him to sleep in the living room, even if it had to be forever as far as Aiba could be fine.

As he arrived home, he found Aiba already there and he had to hold himself from jumping around laughing, he hadn't been that happy in a long time. The sensation of being close to Aiba, of having enough thrust back as to accept living with him had him in the best mood ever. He wanted him to be happy there, as he had promised him when he came to live with him for the first time. Now, he'd make sure all of those promises would come true.

Every day, he'd wake up in time to make him breakfast. Aiba had done it too many times for him before, this was his way to thank him for always being there for him, it was his way to tell him that he respected him and loved him.

After some days, he got used to sleep in the futon, and things around home with Aiba were getting more comfortable between them. Sho wouldn't make a move over him. He loved him, and he was going to to respect him always. Aiba had become his priority, it had taken him time, but he had finally understood where his happiness was, even if it had to be as friends.

That didn't mean he had lost his hopes of going back with Aiba, but he wouldn't press it. Things needed time, and what he had done had been horrible.

His mood at home was making him doing his best at work, he was finally satisfied with what he was doing in his life. Anytime he'd talk to Aiba about how his day had gone at work, he got renewed motivation for the next.

The first night Aiba offered to switch place and offered himself to sleep in the futon he couldn't describe the feeling of thankfulness towards him. It was supposed to be him the one supporting Aiba this time, but still the other always found the way to help him. But maybe it was that, it was about balance, and it looked like finally they had found it.

Some days later, Sho was on his way back home, he had picked Aiba's favorite dinner to have that night. Somehow, making the other happy was making him extremely happy, he just loved him too much. He opened the door to the apartment as always, ready to scream to Aiba that he had bought him his favorite food for dinner when suddenly Aiba appeared in front of him, and his words got stuck in his throat for a moment.

"I... I'm home"

But he hadn't expected the next thing that happened. Before he could notice it or react, Aiba's lips were over his.

He forgot the bag he was carrying and let it fall as he hurried to hug Aiba.

As they broke the kiss, Aiba whispered a soft "Welcome home" directly to Sho's lips.

Somehow, everything overwhelmed him, the happiness he was feeling at that moment was just too much for him to handle. He hugged him tight and let the tears of happiness flow as he faced Aiba again.

"Thank you”
