I got to spend one of the most special half hours of my life yesterday with my baby and a flatscreen TV. :) Here she is!
Our baby is really flexible. She spent the entire half hour waving her hands and her feet right in front of her face!
Only a minute into the ultrasound, the doctor was able to move the wand to the nether regions and announce immediately that the baby is a girl. It was so obvious even to me. (That's her butt on the right and the V extending to the left are her legs.)
The 3-D images didn't turn out so well because she was being so stubborn about her hands and feet. But there she is! Ready to face the world with her fists up! What a boxer.
The appointment went really really really well. The baby was declared completely healthy (well, as far as you can tell through ultrasound, at least). In fact, the doctor kept exclaiming during the echocardiogram about how beautiful all the different parts of the heart were. Hehe.
I am completely enamored by our little girl. Every time she yawned or stretched, I was awwwing.
After the ultrasound was over, I was handed a printout of five screen captures from the 3-D portion of the ultrasound and a DVD of the entire ultrasound. I came home that night and spent a couple hours clicking frame by frame through the DVD. At 30 or so minutes long and 30 fps, that's a lotta frames! (I really only went through maybe a couple minutes total like that. But still.)
I have to figure out some way to do screen grabs from the video. So far I've used my phone to take pictures of the laptop screen -- not optimal, but better than paying for software or risking viruses from freeware.
All in all, I am even more super excited than ever about our baby. Since I'm now past the twenty week mark, everyone's been saying it's all downhill now. I dunno about that, but I do know that I can NOT wait until I get to meet our little girl.
