Today was good. =D
Started off with me actually getting to CP class (or English class, rather) on time (hey, 10 minutes late is waaay better than the usual 20 mins late xDDD). I sat down, the lecturer greeted me (isn't it supposed to be other way around...?) and then told me about what today's work will be.
I read the question, thinking it'll be somewhat similar to what I did last week. Then I reached the bottom line and my jaw kinda dropped.
Present your reflection (journal writing) in a form of a comic strip or mind map.
Comic strip. Comic strip. コミック ストリップ。 (...is the Katakana even right? D:)
Anyways, yes. I asked my lecturer, in this extremely bewildered tone of voice, whether I can really present my answer in comic form. He said, yes, whatever way it is that I feel like going about.
Mental Ri gave a loud squeal. (oh hey that rhymes! sorta)
The lecturer was lazy to hang around and stare at us while we do our work, so he went to the staff room to 'do some paperwork'. I was designated to collect everyone's submission and send them over to the staff room after everyone was done.
I was grinning all the way as exchanged my pen for my pencil and started to DRAAAWWWW. I was so rusty from being out of practice, so it was pretty frustrating actually, to do a whole comic strip. But in the end, after lots of sacrificing on my eraser's part, I finished it. =DDDD
Ok so I was the last one out of the classroom (actually, another lecturer was about to start her class there, so I was basically kicked out, booo--I had to finish the last bit while sitting on the stairs LOL). But it felt soooo gooooood. I haven't drawn anything in ages!
So this class work turned out to be a chibi-drawing practice. xD
I even included my lecturer (Mr Azam) in the comic. =P
And then later today, I had my Build Tech class. If you've been following my rants/complaints lately, you may recognise this class as the Torture class. xD It's the class I had to do that bridge thingy. (Oh, btw, the bridge my group made, TOTALLY PASSED! 8D I'd even say it passed with flying colours~! Though Mr Dennis might say otherwise, being a rather sadistic soul that he is...)
This time, the lecturer suprised us all by saying we had to do YET ANOTHER bridge. But this time, the rules are different:
1) It must be made completely out of 80gsm paper
2) The whole bridge must not consume more than 1 piece of A4 paper in constructing it.
3) You may cut/curl/chop/tear/etc. the paper, but you CANNOT glue it. Or stick it together with any kind of adhesive. In short, it's totally 100% made of paper.
4) For the bridge itself, every 10cm of the span will give 10% marks. It cannot touch the ground. And it must be able to support a coin (50 sen, for you Malaysians) for about 10 seconds.
and lastly, the requirement that made me feel like groaning and bashing my head against the nearest solid surface: 5) It must be done in class, within 1 hour.
YAY EVERYONE LET'S CLAP HANDS AND BE RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY!
....no, seriously, I mean it. I wasn't being sarcastic. xDDD Becaaaause, I PASSED. 8D On my first try, even. My paper-bridge managed to be suspended for about 73 cm length-wise, not accounting the left-over length used as support (that's heck long for something made of paper and must be suspended while supporting a weight).
But then I found out I can actually extend it a little longer to about 80 cm. But the lecturer didn't want to re-evaluate my bridge again. phooey.
Oh, but she said to get 73% is actually pretty high as it is. xD I watched everyone else's bridge, and most were only about 50-60 cm average span. And quite a handful had to remake and re-test their bridges.
And while everyone else used a folding technique (something like zinc roofing), I curled my paper into multiple pieces of tube-like shape (I got them to stay curled by making small slots and inserting a part of the paper), stuffed them together at the ends, and it turned out pretty stable. It hardly even bent from the weight of the coin (unlike most others).
Before I tested my bridge, I was nervous as hell cuz as far as I know, I was the only one with a different design. @_@;
But things turned out great! Today's been great!
Except.........that I suddenly found myself as the leader for my floor of the dorn building. SAYWHUT. The management guy who called me said that the leader of each floor will be trained with the knowledge of what to do in case of emergencies like fire. .....Uh....o...k..?
So tomorrow I have to attend this class of sorts where they'll have the fire brigade to teach us stuff. Probably about how to evacuate people and use the fire extinguisher. Mum taught me how to operate one since I was 12 though. *shrugs* Oh well. I'm not about to say no to extra knowledge. xD
Gah how do I find myself in this kind of situation?! Leader of this, leader of that, leader of the group of leaders....*headdesk* I remember the blissful life of high school where I was pretty much a happy follower, willingly following other people's orders and not stressed out to the max from responsibilities...ahh such wonderful days. xDD
I wonder why people insist I be the group leader. I mean, I don't look that matured (I know for a fact that I'm in the youngest age group--18 going on 19). Nor do I always get high scores. I don't even make an effort to stand out to the lecturers like Lawson.
Oh well. At least all these challenges are slowly building my confidence and self-esteem lol!
P/S: I actually went ahead and photocopied my English work (the comic strip) for myself. Anyone wants to see it? xD
p/p/s: Cherry wants me to scan a song from the Zekkeishoku score book I bought. I figured once I have enough free time to do it, I might as well ask if anyone else wants any scans from any particular song?
