Hits and Misses

We've gotten back all our Mid Year Exam results over yesterday and today, and I must say I'm just the slightest impressed by how well I fare when I don't study, as compared to the previous year when I studied {and failed}.

English=A2
Chinese=C6
Mathematics=A1
Additional Mathematics=B3
Pure Physics=B3
Pure Chemistry=B4
Combined Humanities (SS+E.H)=A2
Pure Geography=B4

=>L1R5=15!
Okay, I know it's nothing great, but it's quite a big jump from last year's end of year's 29.

Ranting in order of satisfaction and shock towards the marks:
Group 1-Absolutely flabbergasted/Jumped up and down in unsuppressed delight
1. English. I'm completely shocked by how well I did, somehow managing to top the class and being one of the 7 people in the level who have a distinction. My letter writing and summary had improved tremendously in this exam, such that I even managed to get full content marks for the latter.

2. Combined Humanities! I finally achieved my objective for the past year when I was given 13/13 marks for Social Studies SEQ. I was mentally preparing myself for yet another 12/13 or 11/12 but I attained full marks this time round. :D:D:D Elective History wasn't too bad with 34/50 and a decrease of one mark from last year's finals either.

Group 2-Grades are reasonable/slightly better than expected
3&4. Mathematics and Add. Maths. At the very least, I am getting my marks with little practice and revision because of the time I devoted to my maths back in Sec 2. Still, there's always plenty of room for improvement in Add. Maths.

5. Pure Physics. I want one more mark to get my A2. Hmph. The MCQ was ridiculously easy (IMO), and error analysis after the exam proved that I had blundered my way through to get 35/40. Eg. Fleming's Right Hand Rule + 2 mistakes = Fleming's Left Hand Rule (wth?).

6. Pure Geography. Before the exam, I resolved to do two Physical and two Human Geography questions for Paper 2, y'know, just to confirm which one I'm better at. When I did get back my paper, my physical questions had 8.5 and 13 over 25, whereas the human questions had 18.5 and 18. *headdesk* I think I will stick to the Human questions from now on.

Group 3-Point of giving up/dropping the subject
7) Chinese. I feel like giving up on this subject already, with 'O's in one week plus. I just can't seem to do well in this subject no matter how hard I try.
8) Pure Chemistry. Same as with Chinese, I've pretty much given up all hope here. Chemistry and I don't mix well.

Conclusion? Maybe Kazuki does help during exams. (Not that I ever doubted him to begin with.)
