Pairings I'd like to see

Mar 21, 2011 02:32

Random post is random, but it's one in the morning and I'm bored, so I figured what the hell. Insomniac ramblings it is!

So, below is a list of ships in various fandoms that I like the thought of, that I've either only seen very rarely, or not at all. Levels of crackiness vary. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll actually try my hand at some of these...

Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare)

Enobarbus/Charmian - Epic sidekicks FTW, y/y? It seems to me like these two could have a lot of fun together. And, of course, you could always extend it to an OT3 with Iras! :D

Enobarbus/Antony - Sometimes I kinda prefer to think of these two as being platonic BFFs, then I think about how Enobarbus dies with Antony's name on his lips, and considering that the "death=orgasm" metaphor is particularly prevalent in A&C... yeah... you get where I'm going with this... ;)

Hell, I like the thought of Enobarbus/Anyone! He needs more love.

The Armstrong and Miller Show (BBC)

Biffy/Spud (The RAF pilots) - They'z well gay for each other, man. All the fault of this one. Isn't it.

The Chronicles of Prydain, by Lloyd Alexander

Taran/Ellidyr - While I'm all about Taran/Eilonwy (OTP!), some serious belligerent sexual tension wouldn't be out of the question for these two.

Gwydion/Achren - Everything about these two just screams History (with a capital H!). It's pretty much canon from Achren's end, anyway.

Coriolanus

Brutus/Sicinius - Yeah, I know, there's crazy subtext between Coriolanus/Aufidius, but honestly? I'd really like to see these two slashed. I mean, they finish each other's sentences and stuff! Soulmates.

Charm School, by Anne Fine

Bonnie/Araminta - I have no idea if anyone else has even read/remembers this book, but I kind of loved it when I was twelve/thirteen. I reread it a couple of months ago out of nostalgia and realised it was Femmeslash Central. Bonnie pretty much has an instant girl-crush on Araminta.

The Divine Comedy

Dante/Virgil - I shipped it before I even started reading it!

Eddie Izzard stand-up

God/Galadriel - I think I saw a Fandom!Secret to this effect ages ago and... yeah. XD And whaddaya know, Eddie Izzard fanfic actually exists.

Final Fantasy VIII

Seifer/Ultimecia - I have no idea how it could ever happen, they live in different time periods, it'd be twisted beyond belief and borderline Oedipal when she's possessing Edea, but goddamn if it wouldn't be fun to try!

Hamlet

Horatio/Fortinbras - Okay, so, I think that I might be in danger of incurring the wrath of hoc_voluerunt with this one, but seriously - when you think about it, the idea has potential to go in oh, so many directions...

Claudius/Gertrude - I'd never really thought much about them as a couple, then I rewatched the Kenneth Branagh Hamlet for the first time in years and thought they were kinda adorable in that (Derek Jacobi is adorable whatever he does, tbh). I actually started a fic about them a while back, though Christ only knows if I'll ever actually finish it...

Horrible Histories (CBBC)

Historical Fashion Guy/Drostan - I seriously need to stop shipping characters from this programme. *headdesk*

Hot Fuzz

Andy/Andy - Well, Nicholas/Danny exists (down in no small part to Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg!), but what about the Andies? XD We could call it Andy². Like J2, only more awesome, with less tinhattery. :P

Julius Caesar

Antony/Trebonius - IDK, you gaiz, I just... don't know what my brain was doing when I thought of this one. Something to do with Trebonius taking Antony aside and me being all "hur hur they're going off in ~private!" Trebonius distracting Antony with sexytiems, y/y? Plus there's something in Plutarch about then going... somewhere... together and sharing a tent or something, and my brain -> the gutter.

Brutus/Portia - It's easy to get distracted by all the slash in Julius Caesar, but I do rather love these two together. Their historical story is rather sweet (if you ignore the whole cousins thing). Also, in the '53 movie, James Mason and Deborah Kerr make such a good-looking couple. I rest my case. *nods*

Brutus/Caesar - Please make the plotbunnies go away. Oh God please.

...I feel I should have more crazy JC ships. :\

King Lear

Regan/Cornwall - I don't really have any particular ships in this play, tbh, but when I went to see it last weekend... I don't know, but I just really liked them together. In an evil sort of way. And now that I think about it, we could have:

Edgar/Albany riding off into the sunset together post-play, y/y? That has potential.

Little Dorrit (2008 BBC adaptation)

Doyce/Cavaletto - Nope, I can't explain it, but dear God, my mum and I ship it like burning.

Pancks/Flora - Ditto.

Night at the Museum

Rebecca/Sacagawea - I can't be the only one this has occurred to!

Rome (HBO)

Posca/Jocasta - IDK, I just think these two are adorbs together, and fic exploring the age gap and the circumstances of their marriage would be kind of neat.

Antony/Vorenus - There needs to be more of this. There just does.

Teenagers From Outer Space

Derek/Thor - Don't ask. Just... don't. I can never explain this one. *hides face in hands*

insomniac insanity, het, for teh lulz, slash, femmeslash, shipping
